"tie" command

Been thinking if this would make sense: while {$stuff} { tie myVar [MyClass new] ... } And the instance created from MyClass would be automagically collected on each iteration. Ie. [tie] would tie an object to a variable: when the variable's value is changed, or when the variable is destroyed, the object is too -- or at least the refcount decreased. I often have Message objects which are used once (after some data is read from somewhere) and then destroyed. Quite often I forget the latter part ;-) / http://www.fishpool.com/~setok/

You know about: set myVar [MyClass new -volatile] ? When the myVar goes out of scope, the destructor is automatically called. It's been there since 0.9.4 or so, IIRC. Cheers Zoran

Sense or non-sense of version-numbers.

Hi there! I do like version numbers, but there is a "too much" in everything. What is the deeper benefit of having the version number for xotcl recursively even inside the source-tree? What actually happens for me is that now I seem to have problems building the code because in 1.0.1 When running xotcl-1.0.1/xotclsh I do find ..../xotcl-1.0 in the auto_path instead of the required/expected .../xotcl-1.0.1. I haven't yet found out where it goes wrong but it looks like the $VERSION doesn't use the revision counter in some Makefile. The question is: why all this fuzz? XOTclIDE 0.36 (also with tclkit)

Hi! The new version of XOTclIDE 0.36 is ready on http://www.xdobry.de/xotclide The Changes from last announced Version - the often used function are available also as pop-down menus - all menus items support context-dependent disablement - there are tclkit and starkit package for xotclIDE for Windows (thanks to Michael Schlenker for suggestions and help). It is possible to run XOTclIDE from one file on Windows without any installation. - additional small changes (see CHANGES files) have fun with it Artur Trzewik PS. I have also tried to wrap XOTcl into tclkit on linux I have got the message by loading. -- undefined symbol: tclIntStubsPtr It seems that tclkit for linux was compiled in another way as standard tcl. Any ideas how get it work?
