I've just tried an new (last) version of XOTcl and get an amount of my XOTcl code errors, that there isn't such function as cset!. In http://media.wu-wien.ac.at/doc/ChangeLog I saw: 2001-09-16 Uwe Zdun <uwe.zdun(a)uni-essen.de> ... - eliminated "cset" on Object and from the distribution, seems to be nearly unused ... How did you estimate the unuseness!? :)) On my mind, it was very usefull one,,, at last for me... thanks, Andriy.

Help with Filters. Resubmission.

Below is nonsensical sample code to illustrate a problem I am having with filters. On invocation of: a mb (see code section below) 1. Object a is sent the message mb(not an instproc) of A 2. Filter af of object a intercepts and dispatches message mbb to object b 3. Filter bf of object b intercepts and redispatches message maa to object a This time the filter af does not intercept message maa!! The message maa is sent directly to object a with the resulting error: object a unable to dispatch method maa. Can anyone assist me in explaining what is happening here? ------------------------------------------------------------ #Code: Win 98 version 0.91; got same problem with ver 0.85 3 months ago. Filter broken on Win32 ver 0.91 & 0.93?

It seems that filter is broken on the Win32 platform(ver 0.91 and ver 0.93). The following code runs ok on Linux(XOTcl ver 0.91) but not on the Win32 platforms(>= 0.91). I don't think my installation is at fault.(library installed ok, etc) but I could be wrong. I haven't tried ver 0.93 on Linux as I am waiting on the RPM. Intercepting All Messages?

Is there a way to intercept all messages to objects of a Class? I am not thinking of a combination of filters and unknown or using a designated intercepting message. Thanks for any help. Regards, sheik

XOTcl 0.9.3 available

Dear XOTcl community, XOTcl version 0.9.3 is now available. The biggest change is a mostly TEA compliant built and install.... Here more details: RECENT CHANGES relative to 0.9 are: - A "more or less" TEA compliant build process and its directory structure (aligend it as far as possible to Tcl, sample extension and other extensions) * We started building an XOTcl stub lib. * We separated xotcl from its library/applications (there is an xotcl-<VERSION> directory in the full distribution that just builds, installs, etc. the XOTcl libraries ... this can for instance be used in other distributions using and shipping XOTcl, but not using the shells). * The full distribution still builds shells, but they are using "package require" to load the XOTcl libraries now. * For building xowish (the XOTcl Tk shell) you do only require an installed Tk version on Unix now. - On Windows we still use nmake due to problems with VCC 6.0 in all TEA compliant extensions we have checked, but we use a completely new build process (more or less one-to-one the Unix build process). - A few minor bugfixes. - We have tested this release on platforms we have access to (Linux, Win NT, Solaris). Please inform us, if there are some problems on your platform so that we can eliminate them in future releases.
