Dear friends and colleagues,
In recent years, we have experienced a rapid growth in both the benefits and downsides of the data economy. One of the key drivers of this development has been the huge increase in personal data collected and processed by companies and institutions. The recent implementation of the European General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) in 2018 was an attempt to hand back control over the ownership of personal data. A group of diverse and interdisciplinary researchers as well as civil society invites you to the establishment of the MyData Hub Austria in order to spark discussion on issues surrounding personal data processing and digital rights. In this very first meetup, we would like to introduce you MyData Austria, present some of the ongoing projects that are related to human-centric computing and privacy, hear lightning talks and expand our network to other researchers, engaged citizens and anyone with a general interest in the topic. If you would like to contribute something to this very first meetup, we would be very happy if you get in touch with us.
