CALL FOR PAPERS
Electronic Commerce Research Journal Special Issue: Electronic Commerce in Developing Countries
The convergence between computing and data telecommunication technologies and the resultant advent of the Internet may have profound effects on developing countries similar to those already experienced and expected in the future in other countries of the world. The way developing countries respond to the many implications of the Internet, and especially those relevant to Electronic Commerce (EC), will undoubtedly have a significant influence on the social, political, cultural, and economic development of these societies. The failure of managers, administrators, and politicians in public and private organizations in these countries to understand how to exploit EC in accordance with their national culture(s) will only act as a barrier rather than an enabler of development. The purpose of this special issue of Electronic Commerce Research Journal is to provide a forum for topics addressing EC issues in developing countries. Conceptual and empirical contributions from authors around the world are strongly encouraged.
This special issue intends to incorporate a wide array of EC issues in developing countries. Papers based on research from both academia and industry are encouraged. Papers dealing with (but not limited to) the following topics are invited:
Effects of EC on public- and private-sector organizations Effects of EC on social, economic and political structures and functions Effects of EC on national relations between developing countries Effects of EC on relations between developing and developed countries EC strategy issues at organizational and national levels EC infrastructure issues EC education and training issues EC implementation issues EC measurement and evaluation issues EC ethical and legal issues EC trust and security issues
