TRACK DESCRIPTION: =================== This track is one of the leading international forums concerned with the design, development, and implementation of information and communication technologies (ICTs) in Middle Eastern countries. As is the case for many Middle Eastern countries, internationally-published research on information systems (IS) practice in those countries is in short supply. IT diffusion in the Middle Eastern countries has been characterised as 'slow' and 'behind'. At the same time, Increasing operations in the international context, organisations must be able to exploit the power of IT to communicate among widespread locations activities both within and across countries. Thus, it is necessary for the managers to these organisations to learn as much as that can about the cross-cultural adoption and use of IT. Yet, research into international information systems is still a minority area in IS research and there is very little of use as a theoretical framework for researching them. International information systems cases are a hybrid of human, social/organisational and technological case elements. Also, as globalisation and virtual markets are expanding, the profound need for more in-depth research about the IS/IT cross-cultural and global perspectives issues is in significant shortage taking into considerations that the external IT environment has been characterised by using terms like "high velocity", "fast-changing", "rapid", "clock-speed", etc. Information systems are implemented within a social context consisting of economic, political, cultural and societal, educational, legal and technical factors which differ greatly among countries. Failure to take account of such differences can inhibit the successful adoption of ITC's and increase the risks for IT systems implementation especially with emergence and expansion of interdependent global economy. In this track we seek papers dealing with a wide variety of global IS/IT issues, especially discussing and researching the IT different issues in Middle Eastern countries.
