In traditional areas : of information systems, such as analysis and design, there is a base of : literature on the curriculum issues involved in developing those : courses. The areas of e-commerce and the web are new to the information : systems curriculum, and therefore, there is not a base of literature on : how to develop these courses. We hope that this special issue of the : Journal of Informatics Education & Research will build a foundation of : literature in curriculum issues involving e-commerce and the web. Papers : can be experimental, theoretical, or present a case study. Some of the : many topics that would be appropriate for this issue: : : 1. Different types of courses offered (web programming, web : design, web usability, web analysis and design) : : 2. Approaches for teaching these courses (real-world projects, : case studies, research papers, homework assignments) : : 3. Teaching software vs. teaching the design process : : 4. Case studies from people who have already "done it." : : 5. Partnerships with local businesses and community organizations : : 6. Effectiveness of lecture/lab/distance education approaches for : teaching such courses : : 7. Meta-analysis of course titles, topics, and textbooks. : : Timeline: : June 1, 2000: Full papers should be submitted to the guest editor : August 1, 2000: Authors will be notified of acceptance : September 15, 2000: Camera-ready papers with modifications are due : November 15, 2000: Special Issue will be published : : Instructions: : : Contributors are invited to submit manuscripts for publication in : this special issue of the Journal of Informatics : Education & Research.
