However, even though many of these benefits are : suitable for inclusion within traditional accountancy : frameworks, it is the intangible and non-financial : benefits, together with the indirect project costs that : often complicate the justification process. As a result, : many companies are finding themselves unable to assess the : 'full' implications of their investments in new technology : thus, amounting to an appraisal process limited to the : analysis of those benefits and costs financially : quantifiable. : : The aim of this special issue is to help : researchers and decision makers in understand the processes : involved in the justification of the appropriate level of : IT/IS to adopt. With the help of the articles appearing in : this special issue, one should be able to better understand : the justification process necessary to evaluate IT/IS : deployments, through identifying the constructs associated : with robust IT/IS investment evaluation. : : The scope of the special issue will be to present : researchers and senior managers with a conceptual and : empirical basis for justifying a IT/IS infrastructures. : Emphasis will be placed on IT/IS investment decision making : in the context of effective capital budgeting and the : complexities associated with the evaluation of IT/IS : investments.
