It gives us great pleasure to invite you to participate in the 2002 annual ACM SIGCPR Conference to be held in beautiful Kristiansand, Norway, May 14-16. The conference web site is:
http://www.acm.org/sigcpr/sigcpr02.htm
The theme of this year's conference, appropriately enough is "The Information Technology (IT) Workforce in the Digital World: Managing IT workers across borders, time, distance, and culture". Appropriate because this is the first time that SIGCPR conference is being held outside North America.
As every year, the conference provides a forum for those of us who are carry out research, or are interested in, issues related to the most valuable of all IS resources - human resources - recruiting, training, developing and managing IS personnel. Old friendships are renewed and new ones are forged. New collaborative research opportunities emerge.
Few places are more suited for such interaction than Kristiansand, located in the very south of Norway. To make attending the conference more attractive for you we:
- are holding it later than usual. May is quite warm in Norway,
summer semesters have not yet begun and the conference ends one
day before one of the most colourful events:
celebration of Norway's National Day on May 17.
- have reduced the registration fee to USD 255 for members for
early registration. Included in the registration fee are events
that normally cost additional - such as the social event and dinner.
- negotiated excellent hotel rates that are below what normal
SIGCPR conference hotels charge.
Munir Mandviwalla the program chair has put together an outstanding program of completed research, research-in-progress and panels.
We hope you will avail of this unique opportunity to combine the intellectually stimulating conference with a relaxing holiday. We are looking forward to extending our warm "Sorlending"
hospitality.
Med vennlig hilsen!
Maung Sein and Carl Erik Moe, Conference Co-chairs
Fred Niederman, President, ACM SIGCPR
