Journal of Theoretical and Applied Electronic Commerce Research Call for Papers Special Issue on Mobile Commerce Guest editors: Axel Küpper (Ludwig Maximilian University Munich, Germany) and Jerry Gao (San Jose State University, USA)
Mobile Commerce (M-Commerce) deals with selling goods, services, and content, including advertising and payment transactions, over mobile networks, and hence follows similar purposes as E-Commerce in the fixed Internet. Recently, several key technologies in wireless communication have set up the solid base for the fast advance of M-Commerce in the near future. They are fast 3G data services, personal area communications via Bluetooth, sophisticated mobile phones with in-built cameras and color displays, RFID, positioning, and mobile television, to name only a few. Furthermore, new services around the Web2.0 paradigm, which also cover M-Commerce, are gaining more and more momentum to fulfill the demands of both stationary and mobile users. And finally, service creators have realized that M-Commerce services cannot be simply deployed as an alternative or supplement to successful E-Commerce services. Rather, new services, related business models and transaction patterns have to be identified and realized in order to acquire and serve customers being on the move.
The purpose of this special issue is to offer an overview of latest M-Commerce activities in research and development and to present innovative ideas and solutions that bridge the gap between new and emerging technologies on the one hand and customer demands on the other. Relevant topics include, but are not limited to:
Business aspects: Next generation M-Commerce services Mobile Marketing structures, models, and analysis Mobile supply chain management Creating new market spaces for M-Commerce M-Commerce business models and strategies Lessons learned from existing M-Commerce business services and applications Case studies and experiences (maybe dedicated to a particular region of the world)
Technology aspects: Mobile payment solutions, systems and platforms Wireless security problems and solutions Mobile privacy Digital Rights Management Service platforms for supporting M-Commerce Location and context-aware M-Commerce services Mobile television solutions for supporting M-Commerce Wireless advertising solutions, systems, and platforms Innovative M-Commerce services and application systems RFID-enabled M-Commerce systems and applications Barcode processing and applications in M-Commerce
