CFP- Social Media in Government HICSS- 2016 Governments have also discovered the potential of social media platforms for sharing governmental information and outreach. Social media unite several communication channels and enhance opportunities for citizens to provide feedback to government officers and political representatives. Guidelines for the use of online social networks and other social media are relatively new in governmental agencies and many implementation challenges still persist. Given that the demand for social media-based government services is growing, issues related to privacy, information leakage, blurred boundaries between private and public spheres, and government surveillance must all be urgently addressed. This minitrack is open to papers that cover all aspects of social media, particularly in the context of citizen participation and electronic government.
Minitrack topics include, but are not limited to: * Case studies of the use of online social media and networks by any level of government * Social media and citizen participation * Apps and Social media: implementation and challenges * Relationship between online social media use and offline political action * Website information link with social media tools * Predicting election and other political events with social media * Implementation challenges * Maintaining privacy in online social media and other online networks * Social media and networks for information sharing * Social media and governance: troubles and challenges * Social networks and 'information overload' * Mobile and location-sensing media and governance * Guidelines and policies for social media use * Legal concerns when providing and sharing content via social media * Online identities of civil servants important dates

Calling all Associate Professors, including those who have attended a mid-career workshop in the past! The AMCIS 2015 Mid-Career Workshop is an interactive, peer-led workshop for mid-career faculty, by mid-career faculty, and is designed just for you. The workshop will be held on Thursday, August 13th from 8:00am - 2:30pm at the El Conquistador Waldorf Astoria Resort in Puerto Rico. After reaching the milestone of tenure and promotion, mid-career professors often themselves at a crossroads, fully responsible for structuring the advancement of their own professional growth and wondering; how do I find my fit and identify new goals? What is it that I want to be known for and how do I create a personal brand that makes my work stand apart? Mid-career is an exciting but complex and varied time when individuals have the freedom to explore new opportunities and define a unique career path that is consistent with their individual interests and talents; however, the potential of mid-career can be squandered if individuals fail to identify meaningful goals and growth opportunities in order to find their fit. Many post-tenure individuals who reach this crossroads find a lack of institutional support and a formal mentorship structure post-tenure, the AMCIS 2015 Mid-Career Workshop is designed with this in mind. This mid-career workshop is specifically for those that have reached tenure and/or promotion to associate professor and are now wondering how best to define new career goals, find their fit, and create a personal brand to convey what they want to be known for, set them apart, and facilitate a lasting legacy. The facilitators and panelists are mid-career faculty that have defined a set of unique goals for themselves and have crafted a unique personal brand. Panelists are from a mix of research-oriented universities and teaching-oriented universities. The theme of this workshop is "Finding Your Fit" as a mid-career Associate Professor. As a participant you can expect panel discussions and to join in breakout sessions and interactive peer-to-peer discussions. For more details, visit http://amcis2015.aisnet.org/mid-career-workshop. Registration is only $25, but attendance is limited to the first 40 registrants. It is an AIS-sponsored event, so all participants must be registered for the conference. Panelists include: Angelika Dimoka, Temple University Stacie Petter, Baylor University Adriane Randolph, Kennesaw State University Andrew Schwarz, Louisiana State University For more information, contact the workshop organizers: Sandi Richardson at sandra.richardson@memphis.edumailto:sandra.richardson@memphis.edu or Stacie Petter at staciecpetter@gmail.commailto:staciecpetter@gmail.com.

Given that we are the AIS group, is it possible that we spend some resources making this email message more functional and technologically up to date?
For example, can we automatically hyper-link the topics so that we don't need to scroll through to get to the ones we want. In this message for example - could we make it so that "4" would link directly to the details of the MISQ Editor nominations and at the bottom of each would be a return to index link ?
This is more than just convenience (though it would in fact be much more convenient). We would be applying some of the technologies, theories and ideas that we espouse in our classrooms. There are times we I think that we are the children in the tale of the cobbler. Running around shoeless.
One other small thing - could we move the consistent boilerplate text (That which begins "Send AIS mailing...." and ends with "Contents of AIS digest...") to below the summary list. This moves the key part of the message front and centre and reduces scrolling for those of reading on smaller devices.
My apologies if this is not the right way to request this - it is just that like most of you I get a lot of email and this has bothered me for a while. It would be nice if we were state of the art in at least some areas.
Regards, Peter
