Please note the attached Call for Papers for a Special Issue of the Information Systems Journal: Information Systems addressing the Challenges of Environmental Sustainability.
The challenges of environmental sustainability have been identified by influential thought leaders like Michael Porter as being a force for change of the same magnitude as globalization and the IT revolution.
Technology, including IS, is acknowledged as a key source of solutions to address environmental challenges and this area of research is located at the core of the IS field of study. IS researchers, however, have been slower to engage with these challenges than researchers in disciplines like accounting, economics and management who have been making contributions over several decades.
This Special Issue aims to contribute to the development of relevant and rigorous IS research in this domain that demonstrates the applicability of IS as a source of empirical solutions to a range of environmental challenges and promotes the application, testing and development of IS theory informed by practice. Given the multi-faceted nature of challenges to environmental sustainability, joint contributions by authors with perspectives from across academic disciplines and industry are particularly encouraged. ======
