The 21st International Conference on Perspectives in Business Informatics Research (BIR 2022) continues the tradition of annual events focused on opening perspectives and stimulating new roadmaps for Business Informatics, Business Information Systems and Information Systems Engineering, considering both fundamental research and key application areas. BIR 2022 and provides a rich environment for exchanging research findings and ideas among scientists, practitioners, and students. The central theme of the 2022 edition is Business Informatics for Sustainable Innovation.

CONFERENCE SCOPE BIR 2022 welcomes original unpublished contributions that have not been reviewed elsewhere. The 2022 edition in Rostock has the focus of Business Informatics for Sustainable Innovation: Digital transformation, artificial intelligence, Internet-of-Things or dataspaces are some of the current trends in business and market environments that lead to innovations in products, services, organization structure and work environments. These innovations should create value for all stakeholders involved not only from a business and commercial perspective and not purely based on technology, but also from a social or environmental perspective. The topic of sustainable innovation obviously also addresses innovations tackling the global climate emergency, transition to a net-zero economy or changes in ecosystems. PUBLICATIONS Accepted papers will be published in a volume of the Springer's LNBIP series. Springer LNBIP volumes are abstracted and indexed in many literature databases, such as DBLP, EI Compendex, INSPEC, SCOPUS or SCImago.
The BIR workshops and the BIR Doctoral Consortium will publish a separate joint proceedings volume in the CEUR-WS series. Submission dates and guidelines will be posted by chairs after the list of approved workshops is announced. Best workshop papers will be invited to submit extended versions to a special issue of the Journal of Complex Systems Informatics and Modeling Quarterly
