CALL FOR PAPERS
*/CKME09 - 2nd Workshop on the Convergence of Knowledge Management and E-Learning/* http://users.jyu.fi/~japawlow/km2009.html http://users.jyu.fi/%7Ejapawlow/km2009.html
within the /5th Conference Professional Knowledge Management - Experiences and Visions/ March 25 - 27, 2009 in Solothurn/Switzerland http://www.km-conference2009.org/
*Background and Motivation of the Workshop* =========================================== Convergence is one of the main trends of this decade: Systems, technologies are merged or developed in a common direction. This trend leads to a variety of changes for organizations and individuals. After the very successful first CKME Workshop 2007 in Potsdam, we would like to proceed on this current topic. Thereby, we would like to keep up the discussion concerning the integration of concepts, processes, and systems for the fields of knowledge management and e-learning. Convergence can be observed on different levels, i.e., cultural level, organisational / process level, system's level, and technological level.
The workshop mainly focuses on two issues: a) how can knowledge, learning and business processes be integrated, and b) how can the related systems be integrated to enable an efficient workflow. Currently, even less learning environments take the context and the environment into account. Using mobile and ambient technologies can lead to a paradigm shift in the construction of such environments: from static to highly contextualized knowledge experiences. With regard to recent research and application projects the second CKME Workshop will moreover focus on the adoption and diffusion of corresponding approaches. How can knowledge, learning and business processes as well as the related systems be designed and interrelated for successful adoption and diffusion? This is the leading question for this workshop.
*Topics of Interest* ================== We appreciate submissions from all areas contributing to the development and application of convergent systems especially targeting the above mentioned levels of convergence. Thereby, we encourage contributions addressing technology-oriented as well as human-oriented approaches. Topics of interest include but are not limited to: * Convergence of processes and systems * Implementing and Establishing convergent solutions * Contextualisation (e.g., location-based services, mobile solutions, internationalisation) * Tools and implementations * Prototypes / Cases Studies The workshop should lead to comprehensive insights into integrated knowledge and learning solutions.
*Addressed Audience* ===================== The workshop brings together researchers and practitioners that are interested in combining findings from two different fields: knowledge management and e-learning. Thereby, the content ranges from recent scientific approaches via prototypical implementations up to field reports about the convergence of knowledge management and e-Learning. Although authors are strongly encouraged to submit their paper in English language, papers in German language were accepted equally. The workshop will be held either in English or in German language - depending on the participants.
*Deadlines and Submission* =========================== * 31.10.2008: Full Paper Submission * 15.12.2008: Notification * 16.01.2009: Final Submission
The publication information will be updated regularly on the conference website. * For each workshop, there is space in the conference proceedings. * All papers in the conference proceedings have to be formatted according to the following instructions: http://www.gi-ev.de/service/publikationen/lni/ * Paper accepted for being published in the conference proceedings should not exceed 10 pages. * For papers only accepted as a presentation, we will provide handouts to attendees of the workshop which includes all those papers which did not manage to be published in the conference proceedings but got still accepted for the workshop. * Submission can be effective via the conference tool.
