WHERE? Fraunhofer IESE, Kaiserslautern, Germany. Kaiserslautern is
        in the center of Europe. It is located in the south-western
        part of Germany, in the middle of the "Natural Preserve
        Palantine Forest" with attractive possibilities for leisure,
        sports and shopping. And it is one of the premier centers
        for software and systems research in Europe with about 800
        scientists and engineers.

The European Conference on Software Maintenance and Reengineering
(CSMR) is the premier European conference on the theory and practice
of maintenance, reengineering and evolution of software systems. Over
the years, it has attracted high quality papers from both, industry
and academia. CSMR promotes discussion and interaction among researchers
and practitioners about the development of maintainable systems, and the
evolution, migration and reengineering of existing ones. CSMR is not
limited to European participants. Participants from non-European

ABOUT CSMR 2009
"Architecture-Centric Maintenance of Large-Scale Software Systems"
Maintaining large-scale software systems consumes a significant amount
of resources. However, introducing new functionality, addressing change
requests, or simply fixing an error is typically time-consuming,
effort-intensive, and error-prone. How can we tackle these phenomenons
with appropriate maintenance and reengineering techniques? How can a
proper architecture ensure efficient and effective maintenance? How
can we reduce the effort for maintaining large-scale software systems?
At CSMR 2009, we discuss these questions and derive answers. We advance
the state of the art and help to mature the state of the practice. Enjoy
this year's conference with its high quality technical program, benefit
from interesting and fruitful discussions, exchange your experiences,
meet old friends and make new ones.
