Forwarded message from [danny@DSV.SU.SE (Danny Brash)] sent originally on Wed, 3 Nov 1999 09:34:34 +0100: : CAiSE'00 3rd Call for papers: : : Time is running out!!! : Send your paper submissions before the deadline, November 30 : : CAiSE'00 : Call for papers : 12th Conference on Advanced Information Systems Engineering : 5 - 9 June, 2000, Stockholm, Sweden : www.caise00.nu : : IMPORTANT DEADLINES : Nov. 30, 1999: paper submissions, panel&tutorial proposals : : CONFERENCE AIMS & OBJECTIVES : Since the late 1980s, the CAiSE conferences provide a forum for the : presentation and exchange of research results and practical experiences : within the field of Information Systems Engineering. In June 2000 the : conference will be held in Stockholm - one of the most beautiful cities in : the world. Stockholm is also an important center of research and : development for some of the leading IT and communications companies in : Europe and indeed, in the world. In tune with this environment, a major : theme of CAiSE*00 will be information systems and services in a digitized : world. : : CAiSE*00 aims at bringing together researchers, users, and practitioners : in the field of information systems engineering. The conference program : will feature paper presentations, workshops, tutorials, and interactive : panel sessions. : : CAiSE*00 is organized jointly by the Department of Computer and Systems : Sciences at Stockholm University and KTH, and the Swedish Research : Institute for Information Technology (SITI), in cooperation with the : Electrum Foundation. : : CONFERENCE THEME : Vast improvements in communication technology, including the increasing : use of Internet and WWW have, over the last ten years, led to better : communication and easier information access in general. In addition, it : has initiated changes in the way organizations cooperate and trade. Hence, : we see the formation of virtual enterprises where smaller companies : collaborate to solve tasks they cannot cope with alone. It also leads to : improvements in information services to people as consumers and as : citizens. However, for such information services in a digitized world to : become really useful it is required that they add value to the workings of : businesses and to people in their daily lives. This calls for enhancements : of methods and tools in order better to understand : organizations and the way they interact among themselves and with people. : Also, there is a need for enhanced design methods for services that are : truly value adding and that function well together with the organizations : legacy systems. In consequence, we are inviting papers and tutorial : proposals that address these issues from a wide range of perspectives but : with a common goal. The goal is to advance theory and practice of : analyzing and designing individual but integrated information services in : an organizational context. : : RELEVANT TOPICS : In addition to the special theme, topics relevant for submissions to : CAiSE*00 include, but are not limited to, the following: : Business process assessment and improvement : Business process models and processware : Component based development : Data warehousing : Electronic commerce : Enterprise Resource Planning : Information services on the net : Information systems and services to the citizen : IT solutions for learning organisations : Knowledge discovery in databases : IS strategy and planning : Managing organisational knowledge assets : Methodologies and models for IS : Metrics and assessment : Novel IS architectures (intelligent, cooperative, distributed, : multimedia,...) : Patterns (organizational, analysis, design, reuse) : Requirements engineering : Systems procurement processes : Virtual enterprising : : Case studies and experience reports related to the above topics are also : welcome. : : CALL FOR PAPERS : The conference organizers solicit papers within, but not restricted to, : areas indicated by the topics mentioned above. Papers should not exceed : 5,000 words. They must be original, and not submitted to, or accepted by, : any conference or journal. A separate cover sheet should be enclosed : containing the title of the paper, the author(s) and affiliation(s), and : the address (including e-mail address and fax number) to which : correspondence should be sent. This is the only place where the names of : the authors should appear. The cover sheet should also contain 2 - 3 : keywords indicating the area of the paper. : : Proceedings from CAiSE*00 will be published in the Springer Lecture Notes : in Computer Science. The proceedings for the CAiSE annual conferences from : 1990 to 1998 are also available from this series. The best papers of the : conference will be proposed for publication (after revision and additional : refereeing) in a special issue of Information Systems: The International : Journal. : : CALL FOR PANELS AND TUTORIALS : Proposals are solicited for tutorials that will be held together with the : conference. Tutorials can be half day (3 hours) or full day (6 hours) and : should be of interest to participants from the academic and business : communities. The conference programme will also include a few panels on : current topics about which there is controversy and thus a need for public : discussion. Panel and tutorial proposals should include a title, an : abstract of the topics, duration, and a copy of the proposers curriculum : vitae. Tutorial proposals should also clearly identify the intended : audience and the requested level of expertise for attending the tutorial. : : CALL FOR WORKSHOPS : In conjunction with CAiSE*00, a series of workshops will take place. They : are meant to facilitate the exchange of ideas and experiences between : active researchers. Workshop topics will be in line with the conference : topics. We invite prospective workshop organisers to submit proposals : stating the topic and goals of the workshop. Proposals will be reviewed by : the Organising Committee. All participants are expected to attend the main : conference. : : CALL FOR POSTERS : During the CAiSE*00 conference, a special room will be reserved for poster : sessions. Industrial and academic research projects of any scale are : invited to illustrate innovative concepts, theories or prototype systems : on a poster or in a demonstration. Poster proposals should include title, : one-page outline and names of presenters. : : SUBMISSIONS : Papers are preferably submitted electronically, either in pdf format or as : MsWord97 documents, attached to e-mails under the address : caise00@dsv.su.se. Please, do not compress or uuencode. : : Alternatively, papers may be submitted via regular mail. In this case, : five (5) printed copies of paper submissions should be sent to the program : chair. : : IMPORTANT DATES : Deadlines: : Oct. 30, 1999: workshop proposals : Nov. 30, 1999: paper submissions, panel & tutorial proposals : March 1, 2000 : poster descriptions : : Notifications: : Dec. 1, 1999: workshop acceptance : Feb. 1, 2000: paper, panel and tutorial acceptance : April 1, 2000: poster acceptance : : Workshop dates: June 5-6, 2000 : Conference dates: June 7-9, 2000 : : CONFERENCE ORGANISATION : Advisory Committee : Janis Bubenko Jr, Kungl Tekniska Högskolan, Sweden : Arne Sølvberg, The Norwegian University of Science and Technology, Norway : : General Chair : Eva Lindencrona, SITI (Swedish Institute for Information Technology), : P.O.
