Call for Papers ACIS 2009
Paper submissions due: July 3, 2009 Panel, Workshop & Tutorial Proposals due: August 1, 2009
The Australasian Conference on Information Systems (ACIS) is the premier conference in Australasia for Information Systems academics, covering technical, organisational, business and social issues in the application of Information Technology (IT) to real world problems. In 2009, the 20th ACIS will be held at Monash University, Melbourne, Australia, December 2-4. It is hosted by the Faculty of Information Technology of Monash University, Melbourne.
Conference Theme: Since the inception of the IS discipline scholars have questioned and debated what constitutes the domain of IS research. The pervasive use of information technology not just for work purposes but for everyday life, and the recent downturn in student numbers, have made the question of the domain of IS more than just of academic interest. For ACIS for 2009 we seek not to look back at what the IS domain has been, but to look forward to what it is to become. We seek to examine the definition of the IS discipline not by reflecting on where the IS discipline came from, but by exhibiting research at the forefront of where the discipline is heading into the future. The conference theme for 2009 is:
Evolving Boundaries and New Frontiers: Defining the IS Discipline We therefore invite submissions from colleagues in academia and industry across Australia, New Zealand, the Asia-Pacific and beyond to address this theme.
Paper tracks include: 1. New Frontiers and Evolving Boundaries 2. The Business of Information Systems: Managing Projects and Investments 3. Cognitive and behavioural perspectives on information systems 4. Design Science and Modelling for Information Systems Development 5. Information Systems: Strategy and Management 6. IT enabled collaboration: organisations, communities and society 7. Information Systems Theory and Philosophy 8. Information Systems Challenges: Panels and Debates 9. IS Pedagogy: Panels, Workshops, Tutorials and Cases
