The Working Conference on Reverse Engineering (WCRE) is the premier research conference on the theory and practice of recovering information from existing software and systems. WCRE explores innovative methods of extracting the many kinds of information that can be recovered from software, software engineering documents, and systems artifacts, and examines innovative ways of using this information in system renovation and program understanding.
WCRE 2008 will feature:
- Two outstanding keynotes speeches: 1) "Of Changes and their History: Some Ideas for Future IDE's", Prof. Harald Gall, University of Zurich, Switzerland 2) "Reverse Engineering the Bazaar: Collaboration and Communication in Open Source Development", Prof. Premkumar (Prem) T. Devanbu, UC Davis, USA
- The most influential paper award presented to the WCRE 1998 paper: "Structural Manipulations of Software Architecture using Tarski Relational Algebra", by Richard C. Holt
- Nine technical sessions on topics such as Change Coupling and Patterns, Dynamic Analysis, Regularity and Similarity in Source Code, Concerns, Program Comprehension, Data Reverse Engineering, Visualization of Code and Processes, Software Analysis Techniques and Tools, Software Evolution
- Two Workshops: 1) FAMOOSr 2008 - 2nd Workshop on FAMIX and Moose in Reengineering - http://moose.unibe.ch/events/famoosr2008 2) PCODA 2008 - 4th International Workshop on Program Comprehension through Dynamic Analysis - http://swerl.tudelft.nl/bin/view/PCODA/PCODA2008
