Dear Colleagues,
We would like to invite you to submit extended abstracts for the Workshop Application Tools and Technology for Conceptual Modelling and Semantic at the eChallenges e2014 by 31 March 2014. Supported by the European Commission, the 24th annual eChallenges e-2014 Conference & Exhibition takes place in Belfast, Northern Ireland from 29 - 31 October. Focused on Applied ICT addressing major Societal Challenges, and showcasing strategic keynote presentations, technical and policy papers, case studies and workshops, eChallenges brings together senior representatives from leading commercial, government and research organisations around the world to share knowledge and experience, lessons learnt, good practice and innovation.

Workshop: Application Tools and Technologies for Conceptual Modelling and Semantic ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Concept Modelling is commodity in e-sciences, domain applications and ICT and hence a cross-domain aspect. Domain specific modelling is an emerging topic in ICT and can be observed by a growing number of groups emphasizing the development of individual languages, methods and approaches for the specific benefit of a particular domain. Domain orientation allows implementing special model-driven solutions for domain experts, without the need to make compromises in the concepts, the method or the tools in use. This leads to a plethora of different concepts, approaches, platforms and modelling intentions. The challenge is to use modelling tools not only to deal with different purposes in complex and heterogeneous application environments but also to translate the conceptual world into a software that provides enough technical flexibility, user acceptance and appropriate application interfaces. Hence the workshop targets very openly all modelling applications, tools and technologies that have been developed or are used in application domains to provide some samples - but not limited to: (a) semantics, knowledge models and technologies for intelligent content; (b) business processes, governmental and policy modelling in eGovernment, eParticipation and eDemocracy; (c) learner models, training course design and course evaluation for technology enhanced learning; (d) model driven architecture, workflow orchestration as well as service discovery and deployment for cloud computing; (e) domain-specific models, semantic and knowledge platforms for eHealth, digital libraries and cultural heritage, Future Internet or any applicable domain. Technical surveys, novel technical solutions, prototypes or products have been implemented, adapted, configured or used in a vast amount of research projects and initiatives, ranging from Software Design and Workflow Management tools, ontology management system, rule inference engines, configuration platforms, business process management tools or platforms to design and monitor key performance indicators. This workshop aims to discuss a wide variety of modelling applications, tools and platforms and hence invites research projects, research initiatives and researches to present their ideas, prototypes, tools and platforms and present the challenges and requirements for the development, configuration and deployment of modelling tools into concrete application scenarios. The aim is to strengthen the European community of research dealing with modelling to enable the collaboration across projects and ensure sustainability of research results.

Call for Papers for the Workshop "Application Tools and Technology for Conceptual Modelling and Semantic -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
We are now inviting extended abstracts (1,200 - 1,500 words) for technical papers, visionary papers, business and government case studies. Proposals to arrange 90 minute thematically focused workshop sessions are also welcome. Related themes and suggestions for papers and sessions are outlined in the Call for Papers http://www.echallenges.org/e2014/default.asp?page=c4p
Important Deadlines
Submission deadline for Extended Abstracts: 31 March 2014 Acceptance decision: 30 April Submission of full paper: 30 May
The scientific programme for eChallenges e-2014 is based on an open Call for Papers and the conference language is English.
All extended abstracts including the one for the workshop "Application Tools and Technology for Conceptual Modelling and Semantic (http://www.echallenges.org/e2014/default.asp?page=submission) must be submitted online by 31 March for double blind peer review by the International Programme Committee.
Papers should focus on a research or eAdoption topic on which a case study, initial or final results can be published. General project descriptions are not appropriate. All papers must highlight the level of innovation and actual or expected impact.
Please bear in mind that the extended abstracts submitted are double blind peer reviewed so they should not provide contact details within the text of the extended abstract submitted. All extended abstracts are submitted as text via a form - tables and diagrams can be submitted as part of the full paper submission in April.
Extended abstracts should provide a good overview of your full paper and cover the following headings:
- Address in the title of the paper that it is a workshop paper "Application Tools and Technology for Conceptual Modelling and Semantics" - Introduction - Issues to be addressed - Objectives of your paper - Methodology Used - Technology or Business Case Description - Conclusions and Summary Recommendations
-------------------------------------------------------------------------- Core Thematic Priorities for eChallenges e-2014 -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Applied ICT addressing Societal Challenges - ICT-related Entrepreneurship and Innovation - eHealth and mHealth - eGovernment, eParticipation & eDemocracy - eInclusion - ICT4D - Digital Libraries and Cultural Heritage - Technology Enhanced Learning and ICT Skills - Intelligent Content and Semantics - Societal Implications of Technology
Emerging Technologies & Infrastructures - Future Internet & Smart Cities - eInfrastructures & Smart Grid - Collaborative Open Innovation and Living Labs - Cloud Computing - Mobile Applications - Security and Identity Management
