The international Trends in Enterprise Architecture Research (TEAR) workshop series brings together Enterprise Architecture (EA) researchers from different research communities and provides a forum to present EA research results and to discuss future EA research directions.
By adopting a holistic, multi-disciplinary stance to an enterprise the EA field significantly contributes to an enterprises’ need to adapt increasingly fast to changing customer requirements and business goals. In particular, EA covers the entire “business-to-IT stack” of an enterprise by explicitly incorporating business-related artifacts in addition to conventional IS/IT artifacts. This is in contrast to conventional architecture management approaches such as IT architecture, software architecture, or IS architecture, which often focus on one (IT centric) aspect only. For example, the introduction of a new product or service may involve a conjoint change of both business processes (for its production, sales, and aftersales) and IT infrastructure.
More information, including on previous iterations, can be found on the dedicated TEAR website: https://tear-series.org/.
-----------------------------Submission Guidelines------------------------
For the 17^th TEAR workshop we invite submissions (1) reporting on original research results, i.e., submissions that have not been accepted or submitted for publication elsewhere, and (2) which are related to EA, as per the list of topics. We invite three types of submission:
-Regular research papers. These papers will be reviewed based on their scientific and technical contribution, originality, and relevance.
-Emergent research papers. These papers involve novel research ideas and challenges (e.g., by doctoral students, practitioners, or senior researchers) related to EA.
-Experience reports. These papers reflect practical and personal industry experiences of EA practitioners, including EA related challenges seen and the approach(es) taken. These papers are advised to follow the STARR template (Situation, Tasks, Actions, Results, and Reflection).
It is planned for the workshop papers to be published in a second volume of the EDOC 2022 conference proceedings with Springer. Moreover, a topical special section on Trends in Enterprise Architecture Research has been established within the well-regarded Software and Systems Modeling (SoSyM) journal. Selected best papers of TEAR 2022 will be invited to this special issue. Note that acceptance for the special issue is contingent on another round of reviews of the extended paper.
All papers must be prepared in accordance with the Springer Lecture Notes in Business Information Processing (LNBIP) format. We accept papers with a length between ten (10) and fifteen (15) pages (all inclusive). Papers need to be submitted electronically (in PDF) via the EasyChair submission website at: https://easychair.org/conferences/?conf=tear2022 .
All submissions should include title, authors, and full contact information. Detailed instructions for authors are available on the Springer LNBIP website: https://www.springer.com/series/7911 .
-----------------------List of Topics---------------------
Topics relevant for submissions include, but are not limited to, the following:
-Digital transformation – Consequences for EA (or the role of EA in) digital transformation, including e.g., migration to data stream architectures, Big Data, IoT, etc.
-Enterprise architecture modeling and analysis – Including modeling languages, model-based analysis and analytics, reference models, viewpoints, human-model interaction, EA and AI etc.
-Enterprise cyber risk management – Managing cyber risks, which include e.g., cyber security risks, but also other risks, such as the negative consequences of AI-based errors, systemic ripple effects, etc.
-Enterprise architecture decision-making and decision-execution – Including drivers for change, architecture governance, stakeholder management, etc.
-Relevant research approaches in terms of research methods and theories.
-Cases and tool implementations
