5th Post-ICIS SIG Social Inclusion (SIGSI) Research Workshop 2019 Munich, Germany - Wednesday December 18, 2019
Submission deadline Friday, October 4, 2019, with notification of acceptance or rejection by Monday, October 14, 2019.
SOCIAL INCLUSION: THE HEART OF INNOVATION ECOSYSTEMS & INFORMATION SYSTEMS
In the 2019 Post-ICIS research workshop, SIGSI explores the interplay between social inclusion, information systems, and innovation. Innovation in our world is fueled by the interconnectedness of ideas, experiences, and perspectives from individuals and societies across the globe using a range of information systems. Consequently, it is imperative that we understand the role of information systems in individuals' and groups' full participation in the normatively-prescribed activities of the societies in which they are embedded.
We invites submission of research ideas, extended abstracts, research-in-progress, and full papers related to the workshop theme of social inclusion in innovation ecosystems and information systems. In addition, we welcome relevant theoretical, empirical, and intervention submissions that relate to the mission of the AIS Special Interest Group on Social Inclusion (SIGSI). SIGSI promotes research, pedagogy, and outreach on all aspects of social inclusion in the field of Information Systems (IS). The goal of such efforts is to stimulate greater diversity of thought and people in AIS and the IS field overall, and participation of all our members in a more socially-aware and inclusive discipline.
Relevant research topics include: the role of social inclusion in facilitating innovation across boundaries, how to design IS and innovation ecosystems based on social inclusion principles; critical analysis of measures of efficiency and effectiveness in relation to innovation; the gender gap in the IS field; gender minorities, inclusion of the differently-abled, inclusion of neurodiversity in IT, intersectionality of identities (such as ethnicity, gender and socio-economic class), socioeconomic divisions that impact access to or use of technology, digital inclusion, under-served groups, and a range of topics related to human diversity, and the "haves" and "have nots" in interconnected digital environments.
Submitted research can be conceptual, analytical, design-oriented, or empirical. The workshop will include a keynote address, "ignite" lightning talks, and roundtable discussions of submitted work.
