MINI-TRACK: The role of IT identity in IT adoption and use

TRACK: Adoption and Diffusion of IT (SIGADIT)

DESCRIPTION

Because information technology (IT) use is the crucial connection between IT investments and organizational performance, IS researchers have focused on adoption and diffusion of IT and how it is utilized by individuals. To that end, recent theoretical work introduced IT identity - representing the extent to which an individual views use of an IT as integral to his or her sense of self - as a means to explain richer, adoption and IT use behaviors. IT identity's utility extends to a wide range of topics relating to how people express, maintain and expand their self-concepts in relation to IT. Accordingly, this mini track calls for further research that considers IT identity as an integral part of models and research approaches seeking to explain IT adoption and use.

We welcome research using a variety of methodologies, and at all levels of analysis, such as quantitative methods (experimentation, survey, and analysis with observational data etc.), case study, theory development, and design science etc. All research which adds to our understanding how IT identity can help to explain richer, adoption, or IT use behaviors is in scope of this minitrack.

Journal Fast Track Opportunity: High quality and relevant papers from this track will be selected for fast-tracked development towards Internet Research (www.emeraldinsight.com/loi/intrhttp://www.emeraldinsight.com/loi/intr). Selected papers will need to expand in content and length in line with the requirements for standard research articles published in the journal. Although the track co-chairs are committed to guiding the selected papers towards final publication, further reviews may be needed before final publication decisions can be made. Internet Research (IntR) is an international and refereed journal that is indexed and abstracted in major databases (e.g., SSCI, SCI, ABI/INFORM Global), with the impact factor 4.708 in 2019.

SUBMISSION TYPES

* Full papers must not exceed 10 pages (approx. 5,000 words)

* Emergent Research Forum (ERF) papers must not exceed 5 pages (approx. 2,500 words)

All submissions must conform to the AMCIS 2021 submission template and will be peer-reviewed using a double-blind system.

TENTATIVE TIMELINES

* January 6, 2021: Manuscript submissions for AMCIS 2021 begin

* March 1, 2021: Completed research and ERF submissions are due at 5pm EST

* March 26, 2021: Reviews are due

* April 8, 2021: Mini-track chair recommendations are due
