Marketing IT Cyber Strategies: opportunities and challenges There are many interconnected strands between marketing and information systems and technology (IS/IT). Often the links between IS/IT strategies and marketing strategies are poor. This book aims to explore the growing importance of technology in marketing as a result of the explosive growth of database marketing, the Internet and now WAP technology. Research in this area is sparse and there is a need to integrate marketing and IS/IT strategies in order to manage the customer interface. The intelligent use of IS/IT is now an important aspect of marketing through a desire to create firms that are market driven and customer oriented. For a firm to be successful in the marketplace IS/IT capability reflects the way in which it responds to environmental factors and competitive pressures. In many ways IS/IT relates to interdepartmental communication and the use of information to solve marketing problems. The aim of the book is to provide a unified coverage of the many aspects of marketing approaches now achievable through adopting internet technologies and strategies. The book will offer a coherent collection of identified and themed contributions which will support the applied nature of the subject. Contributions for the book are invited from, but not limited to, the following topics of content;· The IS/IT/Marketing interface · Business Models of electronic commerce· e-tailing · Relationship Marketing· Marketing Logistics and distribution · M-Commerce · B2B strategies· Advertising and brand building on the Internet · Orienting IS/IT strategies towards marketing. Submission of a 500 word abstract ( by email) to be with Professor Ranchhod by June 30, 2001 with final chapters by November 30, 2001. It is anticipated that publication of the book could achieved by Spring 2002.
