With the shift towards the knowledge society, changing working conditions and the continuous evolution of information and communication technologies, peoples' knowledge and skills need continuous development. Technology enhanced learning is one of the strategic objectives of the EU/IST Work Programme, with the goal of "improving the efficiency and cost-effectiveness of learning, for individuals and organizations, independent of time, place and pace." Innovative infrastructuctures, methods and approaches are needed to reach this goal, and will facilitate transfer and sharing of knowledge between individuals and in organizations. The First European Conference on Technology Enhanced Learning provides a unique forum for all research related to technology-enhanced learning, as well as its interactions with knowledge management, business processes and work environments. It will provide a competitive yet broad enough forum for technology enhanced learning research in Europe and world-wide through specialized workshops and the main conference. The conference will provide unique networking possibilities for participating researchers. The EC-TEL Workshops are intended to bring together pre-conference communities to work together on a common topic for technology enhanced learning. The context of this work should be the conference theme of “Innovative Approaches for Learning and Knowledge Sharing”. Unlike some conferences, it is intended that EC-TEL workshops should be highly interactive and fully engage participants. To that end it is important that workshop submissions clearly indicate how invited speakers / facilitators will attract contributions from our community to their workshop session, and how they will help workshop attendees to contribute.
EC-TEL aims to support a limited number of workshops, so the level of quality of submissions is expected to be high. The workshops will run in the two days preceding the main conference.
** Submission **
Papers describing the workshop proposal should not exceed 6 pages (single spaced, 12 point Times New Roman style font). Workshop proposals should include a short statement describing the background and of each of the organizers, clearly illustrating their expertise in this topic. Workshop proposers should outline the names and topics of expected contributors/facilitators, and indicate why EC-TEL conference attendees would participate in the workshop. Only electronic submissions will be accepted. Workshop participants will need to register for the EC-TEL conference.
Enquiries and submissions should be emailed to the EC-TEL workshop chair: Peter.Scott@open.ac.uk
