===== A Joint PROLEARN and UNFOLD Initiative ===========
September 22-23 2005, Heerlen, The Netherlands
The EU projects, UNFOLD and PROLEARN, are organising joint workshops, the first of which is to be held in Heerlen, The Netherlands, September, 22-23 2005. Papers accepted for presentation at the first workshop will be published in the special issue on Learning Design of the IEEE journal Educational Technology & Society (http://www.ifets.info). In the workshop we aim to provide an overview of current work in the field. We invite submissions on the following topics:
- Development of LD tools and architectures, eg, editors, content management systems, runtime engines. - Advanced applications of LD (eg, in gaming, collaborative learning, competence development, ePortfolios) - Research and technology development to support users in creating an adequate learning design (e.g. software agents or design aids) - Research to evaluate the ability of the LD specification to integrate the following criteria: completeness, pedagogical flexibility, personalization, re usability, formalization, etc. - Evaluations of the use of LD in practice, including the integration of a variety of specifications in a learning environment - Studies defining the current state-of-the-art in learning design, or positioning LD in the wider context of learning, training and instruction
Although this list of topics is not intended to be exclusive, contributors are strongly encouraged to submit original manuscripts that are related to one or more of the above issues.
Full-length articles (4000 to 7000 words) in MS-Word or RTF format are to be e-mailed to rob.koper@ou.nl (editor of the special issue of ET&S) no later than Friday May 27, 2005. All manuscripts for the workshop will be subject to the usual high standards of peer review. Each paper will undergo a double blind review.
