CALL FOR ABSTRACTS: SEARCH AND THE INTERNET The Journal of Information Technology and Tourism Workshop Series MODUL University, Vienna, Austria, November 13-14, 2008 www.modul.ac.at/jitt
This Workshop focuses on search on the Internet. Understanding search is one of the primary challenges in order to develop successful Internet applications. It is intended that scholars present the results of research documenting the nature of search on the Internet, the factors affecting/limiting search, the costs and benefits of search, as well the emerging tools that may be used to support search and tourism marketing on the Internet. The aim of the Workshop is to share knowledge, experience and ideas regarding the various facets of the topic, to encourage/facilitate innovative and in-depth analysis and to promote the development of innovative systems that enable users to more effectively navigate the Web.
The Workshop will follow a format supporting in-depth discussion and collaboration of participants. As such, each session will include extended presentations (20 30 minutes) and time for further discussion. In addition, it is expected that the participants will receive the papers prior to the conference in order to support a more informed discussion. Papers are invited on the various themes indicated below:
-Information search -Semantic web -Recommendation systems -Ontologies -Search and Web 2.0 -Search engine marketing -Data mining/text analysis -Tagging -Search engines -Search engine optimization -Domain specific search engines -Search evaluation -Search engine benchmarking -Mobile search -User experience/User modeling -User content (photos, videos,...)
SUBMISSION OF ABSTRACTS/PAPERS
The Workshop is part of on-going series of conferences focusing on various aspects of information technology within the context of tourism. The papers presented in the Workshop will be considered for publication in a special issue of the Journal of Information Technology and Tourism (JITT).
* Abstracts are required no later than 31 July 2008; please send your abstract to astrid.dickinger@modul.ac.at and drfez@temple.edu * Notification of Acceptance will be provided by 15 August 2008. * Full papers should be submitted by 15 October 2008. * A registration form will be available shortly.
Material submitted for review should include:
1. Title page including complete contact information of author(s): name, affiliation, postal address, phone, fax, email and website 2. Abstract (34 pages) describing the nature of the research/program development regarding search on the Internet.
