<Please note electronic submissions will be accepted> CALL FOR CHAPTER PROPOSAL SUBMISSIONS AND REVIEWERS <Chapter proposal submission deadline March 31, 2002> (Also posted at http://itresearch.kennesaw.edu/igp)
The Handbook for Information Systems Research
A book edited by Michael E. Whitman, Ph.D. & Amy B. Woszczynski, Ph.D.,
Kennesaw State University Published by Idea Group Publishing
As information systems grows as a discipline, we begin to realize the need for references to assist us in the conduct of quality research, and to serve as in-field texts to support the instruction of future researchers. The field of information systems research is evolving as it seeks to adopt and implement many of the methodologies and techniques currently prevalent in its sister and parent fields. This collection of works focusing on methods, approaches and techniques in IS-specific research is designed to provide a centralized repository of information for that very purpose.
Call for Chapter Proposals and Chapters The goal of this blind reviewed publication is to put quality research guidelines in the hands of those who need it most: active researchers, instructors and students. As such, submissions are sought to support a number of topics within IS research. Individuals are invited to submit on or before March 31, 2002, a cover letter and four copies (or one electronic copy) of a 2-5 page manuscript proposal clearly explaining the mission and concerns of the proposed chapter. If you wish email confirmation of receipt of your submission, please indicate so in your cover letter.
Authors of accepted chapter proposals will be notified by May 15, 2002 about the status of their proposals and sent organizational guidelines. Full chapters should be submitted by September 15, 2002. All submitted chapters will be reviewed on a blind review basis. The editors will make final decisions regarding acceptance, revision or rejection, based on the recommendations of the reviewers. Those works selected for publication must submit an electronic copy of the final version, and publication letters of agreement no later than December 31, 2002. Submitted works will not be returned. Address all specific questions to the editors.
The focus of submissions should be on the conduct of research within the Information Systems discipline. Potential topics for submissions could include (but are not limited to):
· Action research in IS · Case-based research in IS · Qualitative research in IS · Relevance in IS research · Venues of IS research · International IS research · Meta-analysis in IS research · IS research citation analysis · Validity in IS research · Methodological issues in IS research · and many other areas as reflected in current discussions within the discipline. We also seek works on fundamental research methodologies and techniques currently underrepresented in our journals.
Submissions must be mailed or emailed to: Dr. Michael E. Whitman CSIS Dept, MS 1204 Kennesaw State University 1000 Chastain Rd Kennesaw, GA 30144
Need for Reviewers You are cordially invited to become part of this new work, by volunteering to serve as a reviewer of submissions. This work is projected to include 20-30 high-quality papers on IS research, tools and techniques. If you are interested in serving as a reviewer, please send your name, professional title, address, and a brief statement of your qualifications to serve as a reviewer of IS research materials to either of the editors at the email addresses listed below.
