Special Issue on NEW BUSINESS MODELS FOR ELECTRONIC COMMERCE
The DATA BASE for Advances in Information Systems
The DATA BASE for Advances in Information Systems, or DATA BASE for short, is putting together a special issue on NEW BUSINESS MODELS FOR ELECTRONIC COMMERCE. DATA BASE is the official publication of the Special Interest Group for Management Information Systems (SIGMIS) of the Association for Computing Machinery (ACM). It is the third most widely cited ACM publication and 22nd among all journals listed in the Social Science Index. It is a high quality refereed journal regularly listed among the top 20 journals for purposes of promotion and tenure of information systems faculty at universities.
The special issue on NEW BUSINESS MODELS FOR ELECTRONIC COMMERCE is motivated by several factors. Electronic commerce has been developing very fast yielding some great success stories but too often also dramatic failures. The focus of special issue is on what kind of business models have been used and what has been their contribution among other key factors to success or failure of the recent experiments? Published papers may address business models for electronic commerce from different perspectives, and we are open to many research approaches. Such papers include, but are not limited to: · Conceptual or theory development papers that give us better understanding of different business models and their feasibility in a given context; · Case studies that describe interesting efforts to apply new business models for electronic commerce, and provide us with deep insights to their benefits and limitations in a specific context; and · Field studies that provide evidence of the use, experiences and efficiency of different business models for electronic commerce.
Instructions for submitting papers: 1. If submitting in hardcopy form, forward six (6) copies of the paper (prepared in accordance with the instructions to authors listed in the front of each issue of DATABASE) to Virpi Kristiina Tuunainen at the address below by the deadline. Electronic submission of papers in Word format is appreciated; send as an E-Mail attachment to Virpi Kristiina Tuunainen 2. Each paper must have a title page that includes the title, full names of all authors, and their complete addresses including affiliation(s), telephone and fax numbers(s), and e-mail address(es). 3. The second page of the paper should include the title, a 200-300 word abstract, and keywords, but should not identify the author(s).
Important dates: June 10, 2001: Deadline for submission of papers. August 31, 2001: Initial round of reviews returned to authors. November 30, 2001: Deadline for resubmission of selected papers. February 28, 2002: Authors notified of publication decisions. April 30, 2002: Deadline for resubmission of accepted papers.
