Apologies if you receive multiple copies of this message. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Call for Papers Distributed Data and Storage Systems Management (DDSM 07) in conjunction with The 2007 International Conference on Computational Science and its Applications 26-30 August 2007, Sunway Lagoon Resort Hotel, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia http://www.iccsa.org
Distributed Data and Storage Systems Management (DDSM 07) Workshop Background ------------------- Applications such as eScience and eBusiness involve geographically distributed and heterogeneous resources such as computational resources, scientific instruments, and databases. The data in these applications is usually massive and distributed across numerous institutions for various reasons including, the inherent distribution of data sources; large-scale storage and computational requirements; to ensure high-availability and fault-tolerance of data; and caching to provide faster access. The aim of this workshop is to provide a forum for theoreticians and practitioners from academia and industry to exchange knowledge, ideas and results in a broad range of topics relevant to the theory and practice of data and storage system management in dynamic, heterogeneous and cross-organizational environments. Papers addressing topics such as data access, data organisation, (visual and numerical) data exploration, data handling, and data fusion on different scales ranging from cache efficient data ordering on processor level up to fast and interactive treatment of large data sets on application level are dispensable.
Workshop Topics --------------- Topics suitable for presentation include (but are not limited to):
- Reliable data transfer services - Visual and numerical data exploration - Data organisation and access - Replica management in grid environments - Data consistency management in grids - Databases and the grid - Data fusion - Virtual data - Caching to provide faster access - High Data Availability - Fault-tolerance on data - Planning and execution of data-intensive applications on the grid - Metadata management - Extracting knowledge from data grids - Grid infrastructures for data analysis - High-performance computing for data-intensive applications - Data analysis and management - Extracting knowledge from data grids - Agent-based management of data in distributed systems - Agent architectures for grid environments - Semantic grid - Data grids for bioinformatics - Privacy and security in data grids - Reliable data and service discovery mechanisms - File Systems and Parallel I/O for clusters - Data Distribution and Load Balancing - Advances in Storage Technology - Language and runtime libraries - Parallel I/O support for databases - Autonomic management of distributed data and storage systems
