Seventeen good or excellent quality papers were : published and presented by researchers and practitioners from Europe, : North America, North Africa and Asia. During two days, numerous : discussions have emerged, and we observed knowledge transfer from theory : to practice, from practice to theory, and between the various actors of : the requirements engineering domain. We would like to repeat this : excellent experience for year 2000 in a second edition of the : Requirements Engineering Process Workshop.
:
:
: SCOPE of the WORKSHOP
:
: Experience in developing systems has shown that an inadequate : understanding of system requirements is the most important cause of users : dissatisfaction and systems failure. This has led to the area of : requirements engineering.
: Requirements Engineering (RE) is the process of determining a complete, : correct and clear specification of a future software-intensive system : from the incomplete, inconsistent and ambiguous statements of need from : stakeholders as diverse as end-users, managers and domain experts. : Whereas conventional RE approaches focus on models and languages to : express system specifications, there has been a recent shift towards : Requirements Engineering Processes (REPs). The prevalent view is that : requirements emerge from a process of learning in which they are : elicited, prioritised, negotiated, evaluated and documented. Requirements : evolve with time. This necessitates managing requirement evolution and : aligning requirements to organisational changes.
:
: TOPICS
: The goal of the REP workshop is to improve our understanding of the : RE process. This workshop shall provide a forum for the presentation and : discussion of :
:
: · Innovative ideas : for REP
: · Best REP : practices
: · Industrial : problem statements
: · Evaluation and : comparison of approaches to REP
:
: This workshop is organised with the aim to bring together researchers and : practitioners from various disciplines such as Databases, Information : Systems, Software Engineering, Human Computer Interfaces, Systems : Engineering, Business Process Reengineering, Quality Management and : Method Engineering. The objective is to advance understanding about how : techniques from these disciplines and others can improve and empower the : requirements engineering process in organisations. It also aims at : discussing the lessons learned from large scale RE projects and : investigate approaches to keep track of good and bad REP experiences. :
:
: Topics include but are not restricted to :
:
: · Theories and : models for the REP
: · Best RE practice : capitalisation
: · Models for the : REP quality assurance and improvement
: · Environments for : the RE process enactment and monitoring
: · REP traceability :
: · Engineering : techniques for the REP
: · Co-operative and : iterative learning process
: · Documenting : requirements and the RE process
: · RE method : engineering and CAME environments
: · Requirement : management processes
:
: PAPER SUBMISSION
: Authors are invited to submit contributions representing original, : previously unpublished work. Submitted papers will be evaluated based on : originality, significance, and relevance to the workshop. IEEE will : publish accepted papers in the DEXA workshops proceedings.
: Submissions (max 5 pages, approx. between 2000 and 3000 words) : should be written in English, preceded by a page indicating the name, : affiliation and complete address for each author including email contact, : and sent to:
: :
:
REP@univ-paris1.fr :
(RTF, word 97, PS, or PDF)
:
: :
The following signed statement: "All appropriate : organisational approvals for the publication of this paper have been : obtained. If accepted, the author(s) will prepare the final manuscript in : time for inclusion in the workshop proceedings and will present the paper : at the workshop" should be sent to the program committee before : the date of acceptance.
:
: The papers will be evaluated according to their originality, technical : quality, relevance to REP, and
: presentation. Accepted papers will have to be formatted according to IEEE : policies.
:
: DEXA WORKSHOP RULES
: Each workshop works autonomoulsy. However, the publishing and : registration processes are organised by the DEXA Workshops organization : committee (A.M. Tjoa, R.R. Wagner and Ala Zobaide).
:
: The publishing process will be performed by IEEE and the DEXA Workshops : organization committee. The camera ready papers must be sent : electronically by the beginning of May 2000. The instructions how to do : this and the exact format will be sent to all corresponding authors and : organisers by IEEE just in time. However, the IEEE formatting : instructions for last year's proceedings can be retrived in the REP'99 : web pages. The camera ready papers are limited to 5 pages, two : columns (i.e., according the DEXA workshops organizers, approx. : 5000 words; between 2000 and 3000 words in our experience). Each author : will be asked to sign a copyright form which will be sent to him/her by : IEEE. If the authors don't return the copyright form to IEEE, IEEE may : not
: publish the papers.
:
: Each participant, author and organiser of a DEXA workshop has to pay the : reduced DEXA registration fees (ATS 5000.-). If a DEXA workshop : author is a student, he has also to pay the reduced DEXA registration : fees and not the student fees.
:
: IMPORTANT DATES
:
: · : Paper Submission : March 15th 2000
:
: · : Notification of acceptance : April 10th 2000
:
: · : Camera-Ready copy due : May 1st 2000
:
: PROGRAM COMITTEE
: Chair and co-chairs
: Camille Ben Achour, Université de Paris 1 - : Sorbonne, CRI, France
: Colette Rolland, Université de Paris 1 - : Sorbonne, CRI, Paris, France
: Neil Maiden, City University, Centre for HCI, : London, United Kingdom
: Naveen Prakash, DELHI India
: Committee members
: Frank Barbier, : Université de Nantes, France
: Daniel Berry, : University of Waterloo, Canada
: Sjaak Brinkkemper, : Baan Company, The Netherlands
: Anthony : Finkelstein, University College, London, United Kingdom
: Michel Léonard, : Université de Genève, Switzerland
: Peri Loucopoulos, : UMIST, United Kingdom
: Barbara Pernici, : Politecnico di Milano, Italy
: Anne Persson, : University of Skövde, Sweden
: Klaus Pohl, : University of Essen, Germany
: Bjorn Regnell, : Lund Institute of Technology, Sweden
: Carine Souveyet, : Université de Paris 1 - Sorbonne, France
:
: CONTACT INFORMATION
: Please send your contributions in electronic files (RTF, Word 97, PS, : RTF) to : :
:
REP@univ-paris1.fr
:
:
:
: :
Dr Camille : Ben Achour, REP'2000
: C.
