Dear colleagues,

we would like to introduce you to the European Society of Socially
Embedded Technologies (EUSSET): http://www.eusset.eu/

As new technologies become an increasingly interwoven aspect of our
everyday lives, it has become apparent that traditional methods for
systems design often lack the detailed understanding of aspects of
human, social and cultural life that is required. Our position statement
argues in favour of a reorientation of research and design in the
broader domain of Human Centred Computing:

We are also on the way to create a legal body around these ideas to make
affiliated conferences more visible (ECSCW, C&T, MobileHCI, AVI, COOP,
IS-EUD, BritishHCI). Most of their (recent) proceedings are already
available for free on the WWW: http://www.eusset.eu/index.php?id=9

EUSSET also build a mailing list of supporters to announce related
events, please register at: http://www.eusset.eu/index.php?id=7

Hope you find these developments interesting.

Yours sincerely,

Liam Bannon, Boris de Ruyter, Tom McEwan, Kjeld Schmidt, Ina Wagner, and
Volker Wulf
