16th Americas Conference on Information Systems (AMCIS)
Track-- Data and Information Quality
Minitrack-- INFORMATION QUALITY: ITS IMPACT ON HEALTH SYSTEMS AND SERVICES
August 12-15, 2010, Lima, Peru
http://www.amcis2010.org
==========================================================================
Health Information Technology, or Health IT, can be used to improve the
efficiency and quality of the health care that patients receive. Health
information systems are critical to containing costs and improving the quality
of medical service delivery. This is a world-wide concern. As healthcare costs
continue to rise, information technology is touted as âthe solutionâ for
reducing overall costs while not adversely affecting patient care. However, a
prerequisite is high-quality information and its delivery especially for
Electronic Health Records (EHRs) and eHealth. The success of EHRs and ehealth
will be closely tied to success in achieving high levels of information quality.
This mini track deals with the impact of and independencies of information
quality on EHRs and ehealth. Papers, panels, and case studies are solicited.
Topics of interest include but are not limited to:
(1) Impact and Role of IQ on EHRs, Health Information Exchanges (HIE), and eHealth,
(2) Standards for EHRs,
(3) Application of knowledge management techniques,
(4) Application of data warehouses and data mining, and
(5) Database and IT architectures for eHealth systems, to ensure data privacy,
security, and to provide data integration.
