**************************************************************** Doctoral Consortium - ICMB 2013
June 10, 2013, Berlin, Germany (mbusiness2013.org) ****************************************************************
Submission Deadline: March 18, 2013<<
=======================================
Doctoral Consortium Description =============================== Nowadays 31 million people in the world access the internet via mobile means only, and this number is expected to grow in total to 788 million until 2015. The same applies to the smart phone market, forecasts estimated an ongoing increase in shipments with 982 million units. And tablet sales are expected to grow from 60 million units in 2011 to 275 million units in 2015. These considerations are especially important not only because of the enhanced features of these devices when compared to traditional mobile phones, but also as smart phone users were proved to be far more active than non-smart phone users in the adoption and use of evolved services (such as the mobile internet). These new technologies are drivers for a continuous service convergence across industries. Due to the fast advancement of mobile technologies and devices, communication networks are more and more being tied with any kind of services, leveraging the importance of mobile services for marketers, institutions, telecommunication, and device manufacturers. Mobile technologies and corresponding services have rapidly advanced and delivered unique value to customers, with a potentially important economic impact. The doctoral consortium of the ICMB in Berlin will provide young researchers with the opportunity of discussing their mobile business related research with senior researchers from the ICMB community. Equally importantly, the Doctoral Consortium will allow PhD candidates to build a community with others at a similar stage of their dissertation research. The Consortium will take place June 10th, the day before the ICMB conference. Location will be the Ludwig Erhard Conference Centre. PhD candidates will present their research proposal followed by plenary discussion with senior staff and fellow PhD candidates. In addition to informal discussions over lunch and coffee, an experienced mentor will be assigned to each participant to allow intense one-to-one discussion of the proposed research.
Eligible Candidates =================== Ph.D. students in the field of mobile business, who have developed a plan for pursuing their dissertation in the field of mobile technologies or services, and would benefit from constructive feedback from senior faculty in the field. Prospective attendees should have written, or be close to completing, a thesis proposal (or equivalent). It is desirable that candidates are not that close to completion of their PhD thesis that the event would have little impact on their work.
