Information retrieval and data mining are among the research areas that have experienced significant progress over the past few years. Overwhelming acceptance of the Internet as a primary means for information and data delivery has created unique opportunities and challenges for researchers working in these two fields. The richness of the webs multimedia content, the reach and timeliness of web-based publication, the increasing proliferation of eCommerce activities, and the potential for wireless web delivery have generated many interesting research problems. Technical, organizational, and social research approaches are all needed to address these research issues.
Papers reporting novel information retrieval, data mining, visualization, and analysis techniques, applications, and case studies that use Internet as a primary means for delivery are sought. Specific topics of interest include, but are not limited to, the following:
-Text and data mining on the web -Web visualization, web intelligence, and web agents -Information organization and management on the web -Multilingual and multimedia issues on the web -Wireless web retrieval and visualization -Web-based usability and HCI studies -Web-based analysis for eCommerce applications
