The SIMposium is built on the benefits of peer-to-peer interaction of CIOs and senior level IT executives. The program committee has developed four categories for concurrent sessions at SIMposium 2012.
* IT for the Business (Looking Outward from the IT Department) - IT Used for Competitive Advantage (e.g. strategic, ROI/VOI, enterprise architecture, innovation, emerging technologies, mobile technologies, virtualized environment, social media, and analytics)
* IT as a Business (Looking Inward into the IT Department) - IT used to directly Drive Revenue (e.g. actually charging for a service, making money for the company) or for operational efficiency (better, faster, cheaper) (e.g. delivery of technology, implementation of technology, use of technology, change management/change agent, process improvement, vendor management and analytics)
* Business of IT Leadership (e.g. leadership management, succession planning, mentoring, coaching, changing role of the CIO, career development of IT professionals and helping IT employees understand growing the business)
* Other - Considerations will be made for other topics which do not fit into the three categories above.
