British Journal of Educational Technology: Call for Papers
Title of special section: Learning Analytics and Assessment
This special issue seeks to promote research and practice that
looks at the intersection of learning analytics and assessment. We
invite submissions that report on analytic approaches that are
well-aligned to educational assessment research and that improve
reliability and validity of data collection and analysis in
learning analytics. The submissions will also look into the ways
how learning analytics can contribute to the future developments
in assessment for both summative and formative purposes, uses of
learning analytics to promote fair, sustainable, and developmental
assessment, and examine practices for the use of learning
analytics to assure assessment trustworthiness with the particular
attention to the socio-technical nature of potential challenges.
We welcome empirical, conceptual and theoretical papers that
report on research spanning the fields of learning analytics and
assessment. The papers should include at least one of the
following topics:
1. Role of learning analytic approaches to formative and summative
assessment
2. Crossovers of practices in assessment validity and reliability
with learning analytics
3. Fairness and sustainability in assessment with learning
analytics
4. Learning analytic approaches for trustworthiness of assessment
5. Developmental assessment and learning analytics
6. Trace-based assessment to support learning processes and
outcomes
7. New theoretical frameworks that describe theoretical constructs
(and their relationships) in learning analytics and assessment
8. Juxtaposing of learning analytics and high-stakes/standardized
testing
9. Critical perspectives on the role of learning analytics in
assessment
