You are invited to submit your papers to the Workshop on Usage Analysis in Learning Systems (part of the 12th International Conference on Artificial Intelligence in Education, AIED), 18-22 July 2005, Amsterdam, The Netherlands
The aim of the workshop is to address the following questions:
- How to record and capture usage during a learning session?
- How to and why analyze these tracks, what are the objectives, the means (tools, techniques, methods) ? What type of student data is useful to analyze and why? What are the uses for analyzing data from one single user and from groups of users? Is student model data sufficient and appropriate?
- What are the expected results of these analysis, for whom are they produced (designer in a reengineering purpose, tutor or teacher to support and understand learner’s activity, learner to enhance the awareness and the appropriation of the system and education), in what format are they provided, and why they are considered as a valuable information?
- What are the different potential uses of such analysis for (i) learners, (ii) ITS designers and (iii) teachers and education practitioners? In what way the information extracted would be used in a specific context (limited to the domain of application and student population) and in more general context?
- Is it likely that a new way of teaching could emerge from the process of using student data analysis?
