ICAPS
2005 Competition in Knowledge Engineering for Planning
Monterey, USA, June

============================================================
The
upcoming International Conference on Automated Planning and Scheduling
(ICAPS
2005) to be held in Monterey, USA on June 2005 will introduce a new
type of
event - The International Competition in Knowledge Engineering for
Planning
(ICKEP). Like its older sibling - The International Planning
Competition -
the aim of ICKEP is to promote research in the area of
planning, in
particular to promote the knowledge-based aspects of planning
by putting
together a competitive environment where various knowledge-based
tools can be
compared.
As ICKEP is a new type of the competition, there are still many
options in
how to organise such an event, what problems should be addressed,
what tools
should be eligible, and how to evaluate and compare them. For
2005,
we are proposing three competition tracks:
- open track, where
any knowledge engineering tool aimed at supporting
AI planning applications,
can enter,
- debugging track, where tools identifying bugs and
inconsistencies in
planning domain models are compared,
- heuristic track,
where tools learning heuristics for planners from the
planning domain model
can participate.
More information about ICKEP can be found at
competition's web page
at:

If
you would like to participate in such a competition, to comment on
or propose
a new specific track, testbeds, evaluation criteria, or to
contribute in any
other way, we would like to hear from you.
