Submission Deadline: March 31, 2019

Organizers
•    Hans-Georg Fill, University of Fribourg, Switzerland
•    Oscar Pastor, Universidad Politécnica de Valencia, Spain

Doctoral Consortium Committee
•    Paolo Ceravolo, University of Milan, Italy
•    Yevgeni Koucheryavi, Tampere University of Technology, Finland
•    Ozcan Saritas, Higher School of Economics, Russia
•    Jolita Ralyté, University of Geneva, Switzerland
•    Stefan Strecker, University of Hagen, Germany
•    Jelena Zdravkovic, Stockholm University, Sweden

Objectives of the Doctoral Consortium
•    Provide feedback on students’ current research in business informatics and guidance on
    future research directions,
•    Provide a pleasant, inspiring setting where students can present their work and meet
    other students,
•    Offer each student comments and fresh perspectives on their work from researchers and
    students outside their own institution,
•    Promote the development of a supportive community of scholars and a spirit of
    collaborative research, and
•    Contribute to the conference goals through interaction with other researchers
    and conference events.

We invite doctoral candidates who feel they would benefit from this kind of feedback on their
dissertation work to apply for this unique opportunity to share their work with junior
researchers in a similar situation as well as senior researchers in the field. The strongest
candidates will be those who have a clear topic, research approach and direction, and have
made some progress but who are not shortly before submitting their thesis.

In addition to stating how you intend to benefit from participation, both you and your advisor
should be clear on what you can contribute to the Doctoral Consortium. A submission to the DC
should clearly describe motivation, goal, expected results and the research approach taken.

We encourage doctoral students who prepare a submission to reflect upon these questions:
•    What makes the research I do especially appealing for me (for the scientific discipline of
    Business Informatics, for practice)?
•    How can I justify that my research results will match the goals of the dissertation?
•    How can I show that the results of my work will contribute to advancing the field?
•    What are open questions that I still need to clarify?

In addition to stating how you intend to benefit from participation, both you and your advisor
should be clear on what you can contribute to the Doctoral Consortium.

Submissions
•    4 pages about your research and up to 4 pages in English
•    Layout and styling: A4 paper, 12pt serif font (e.g.\ Palatino), a line spacing of about
1.5, 2cm margins on all four sides

Submit via email only to cbi2019dc@gmail.com (PDF only). Your doctoral advisor *must* be CCed on
your submission to the DC.

The submissions will be reviewed by the committee of the doctorial consortium which consists of
experienced faculty members in business informatics. Accepted submissions will be presented and
discussed at the Doctoral Consortium with sufficient time for an in-depth discussion.

Schedule and Registration
The Consortium will be a single track one-day event with about 4—6 students attending.
Applicants who are selected will receive complimentary conference registration.

Location
The doctoral consortium of the IEEE CBI 2019 will take place in Moscow, Russia, at the
National Research University Higher School of Economics (Myasnitskaya street, 20).
