SoSyM Theme Issue: The Human Perspective in Business
Processes
The BPMDS (Business Process Modeling, Development and Support)
series in conjunction with CAiSE focuses on business processes and
their IT support -one of the keystones of information systems
theory- since 1998.
BPMDS solicits papers related to Business Process Modeling,
Development and Support (BPMDS) in general. To encourage new and
emerging challenges and research directions in the area of
business process modeling, development and support, we have a
unique focus theme every year for the idea papers. The focus theme
for BPMDS'2014 idea papers was:
The human perspective in Business Processes
The human perspective is of essence since humans direct business
processes rather than computers. It plays a major role in all
phases of BPMDS. The human perspective in business process
modeling relates to the individual who creates a process model, to
the communication among people that is facilitated by the business
process model during and after the modeling process, and to the
social process of collaborative modeling. The human perspective in
business process design relates to the kind of interaction /
collaboration / coordination / cooperation that should to be
implemented in the business process or to specific human-related
aspects of the business process itself and their representations
in models. The human perspective in business process support
relates to all social aspects of the business process and its
management in an organization.
The Journal of Software and Systems Modeling (SoSyM) (
http://www.sosym.org/) invites
original, high-quality submissions for its theme issue on “The
Human Perspective in Business Processes (BP)” focusing on topics
related to BPMDS, including:
-
Business Process Modeling: multi-perspectives on
BP modeling, representations of humans in BP models, actor-driven
(vs activity driven) representations of BPs, variability and
adaptability of BP models, BP modeling enhanced by social software
and social networks.
-
Business Process Support: BP change management
and governance issues, BP support combined with social software
and social networks, actor support vs control support in BPs,
enhancing creativity in BPs, mobile technologies and context aware
BPs.
-
Requirements on Business Processes: flexibility,
variability, adaptability, knowledge-intensive business processes,
context aware business processes, cross-organizational business
processes compliance, reliability, security, performance.
