SCOPE
In its forth year, the 2001 International Workshop on Modeling and
Simulation of Wireless and Mobile Systems, will take place in Rome, Italy,
just after the International Conference on Mobile Computing and Networking
(MobiCom 2001), in July 2001. This is an excellent opportunity to partake
in two events covering a wide range of research in wireless and mobile
systems.
WORKSHOP OBJECTIVES
Wireless systems are growing incredibly fast in recent years. Pushed by the
increase of the number of users and by the introduction of new services, and
supported by the development of new technologies, the growth of the
complexity
of these systems makes the performance evaluation and design of
wireless
systems more and more challenging. Simulation is frequently used as
an
approach to cope with the variety of details typical of complex wireless
and
mobile systems. Analytical approaches are necessary to provide a deep
comprehension of the system dynamics which have a major impact on the
performance.
This workshop will focus on all aspects of wireless systems, particularly
modeling analysis and simulation in wireless communication.
ACM MSWiM 2001 serves as a forum for researchers from academia, industry
and
research labs, for presenting recent research results in Modeling and
Simulation of Wireless and Mobile Systems. The conference features prominent
invited speakers as well as papers by top researchers in the field.
A
special session will be devoted to the proposal of new tools.
The workshop will include contributed technical papers, invited papers,
and panel discussions. The proceedings will be published by ACM CS-press.
A Special Issue with ACM/Baltzer MONET/WINET will be planned which will
contain
selected papers from MSWiM.
WORKSHOP CALL-FOR-PAPERS
Authors are encouraged to submit both theoretical and practical results of
significance. Demonstration of new tools and simulation languages are very
desirable.
The scope of the workshop includes, but is not limited to:
- Performance evaluation and modeling of mobile and wireless communication
networks FDMA, TDMA, CDMA system RF capacity simulation and analysis
- Simulation methodology for large scale wireless systems Network support
for
QoS provisioning in wireless and mobile systems
- Simulation
and analysis of wireless protocols and standards Modeling and
simulation of mobile computing systems
- Design methodologies for wireless
systems
- Wireless data and multimedia services
- Traffic measurements
in wireless systems
- New simulation languages and tools for wireless
systems
- Parallel and distributed simulation of wireless systems
-
Modeling and analysis of speech, audio and video wireless transmission
-
Database management systems and mobile computing (location based queries,
wireless data caching, mobile transactions)
- Wireless data
dissemination (broadcasting and indexing techniques)
- Ad Hoc networking and
computing
- Mobile agents support for wireless networks
