Details below. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ CALL FOR PAPERS 24th Americas Conference on Information Systems (AMCIS) SIGOPEN Minitrack "Sustainable Open Business Models and Ecosystems" August 16-18, 2018, New Orleans, LA (http://amcis2018.aisnet.org/?page_id=111#toggle-id-19) ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ MINITRACK DESCRIPTION Openness affords individuals, organisations and communities the opportunity to sustainably create and capture value through legal, technological, socio-cultural and organisational transparency. However, this value is only possible through the adoption and/or development of appropriate business models, organisational forms, and ecosystems that support openness. Does openness make sense in all domains? How can openness transform the way in which individuals, groups, organisations and communities create, capture and disseminate material? In what ways can business benefit from adopting openness? What do these business models look like? How do openness business models differ from other business models? Once an organisation adopts an open business model, what next? How does the organisation ensure that the model is sustainable over time? What types of open ecosystems are likely to thrive given the complex network of actors, software and services involved in such communities? Where are the domains that would most benefit from a transparent business model and/or ecosystem? How do we prepare people to work and/or live within an open business model/ecosystem? In a world increasingly concerned with ethical data capture, storage and use, openness may provide the answer to the worries of individuals, organisations and communities. What kinds of open business models and/or ecosystems have the potential to address these fears? How can the information systems field contribute to the development of sustainable open business models and ecosystems? This mini-track invites research papers and research-in-progress papers on topics relating to sustainable open business models and ecosystems. We are interested in the application of openness to diverse contexts and the sustainability of ensuing business models and ecosystems that emerge. We welcome a broad range of research methods including quantitative, qualitative, theoretical, literature review, case study, and other research approaches.
