The International Conference on Wirtschaftsinformatik is the most
important platform for Wirtschaftsinformatik research in the
German-speaking world and a forum for exchange with entrepreneurs.
The Friedrich-Alexander-University invites to the 17th
International Conference on Wirtschaftsinformatik (WI22) in
Nuremberg.
For WI22 we have chosen the conference theme WI for Grand
Challenges - Grand Challenges for WI. Our colleague Peter Mertens,
who was appointed in 1970 to the first chair of
Wirtschaftsinformatik in Germany at the
Friedrich-Alexander-University Erlangen-Nuremberg, emphasized that
WI, as a mature discipline, has to identify and define
"Grand-Challenges" in the sense of particularly demanding
challenges. Such problems, whose solution requires the united
forces of the WI community, should be presented as a broad
consensus of the professional community and be the result of a
discourse. With the 17th International Conference on
Wirtschaftsinformatik we would like to offer a platform to discuss
"Grand Challenges" and "Wirtschaftsinformatik" from two different
perspectives. As a compass for the grand societal challenges of
our time, the United Nations has described 17 Sustainable
Development Goals (SDGs) to map out a global plan to promote
sustainable peace and prosperity and protect our planet.
WI for Grand Challenges
We therefore call for papers that demonstrate the contributions of
Wirtschaftsinformatik to the SDGs. We see the SDGs as obvious
challenges for Wirtschaftsinformatik that can grow into Grand
Challenges. The 17 SDGs will be examined in different tracks:
* IT for Development: Digitalization und Society (Goals 1, 2 and
6: No Poverty, Zero Hunger, Clean Water and Sanitation)
* Digital Health & Wellbeing (Goal 3: Good Health and
Well-Being)
* Digital Education (Goal 4: Quality Education)
* Digitalization & Human Rights (Goals 5, 10, 16: Gender
Equality, Reduced Inequalities, Pease, Justice And Strong
Institutions)
* Sustainable Information Systems, Energy Informatics, and Climate
Protection (Goals 7, 13 and 14: Affordable and Clean Energy,
Partnerships for the Goals)
* Digitalization and Implications for Labor Markets (Goals 8 and
17: Decent Work and Economic Growth, Partnerships for the Goals)
* Sustainable Information Systems, Energy Informatics, and Climate
Protection (Goal 9: Industry, Innovatoin and Infrastructure)
* Sustainable Cities and Communities (Goals 11 and 15: Sustainable
Cities and Communities, Life on Land)
* ICT and Responsible Consumption as well as Production (Goal 12:
Responsible Consumption and Production)
Grand Challenges for WI
We also invite submissions of papers that address current
challenges and research topics in Wirtschaftsinformatik. The
increasing interconnectedness of business and society entails many
research topics, challenges and opportunities for
Wirtschaftsinformatik. The contributions to the following
scientific tracks focus on the Grand Challenges of
Wirtschaftsinformatik in research, economy and society, in order
to contribute to the further development of the subject and the
core topics of Wirtschaftsinformatik:
* Business Analytics, Data Science and Decision Support
* Design Science Research: Development & Modeling of
Information Systems
* Digital Markets & Platforms
* Digital Retail
* E-Government
* Finance Technologies (FinTech) and Blockchain
* Human Computer Interaction and Digital Assistance Systems
* IT-Strategy, IT-Management and IT-Governance
* Design, Management, and Impact of AI-based Systems
* Business Process Management
* Services & Service Systems Engineering
* Social Media and Digital Work
* IS Adoption, Diffusion and Use
* Wirtschaftsinformatik as an Interdisciplinary Science
We invite researchers and practitioners to submit unpublished
research papers as "full papers" or "research-in-progress" papers
to WI22. Research contributions in German and English are welcome.
For each track, the respective track chairs have assembled an
international program committee that will review each submission
according to a double-blind procedure. Presentations of accepted
papers can be prepared and delivered in either English or German.
Accepted papers will be published in the conference proceedings in
the AIS e-Library. For accepted papers there is also the option to
publish only a two-page abstract (Extended Abstract) in the
Proceedings.
Full-Paper present scientifically sound results from the field of
Wirtschaftsinformatik and its related disciplines. The results
provide an essential contribution to the current state of
research. Full papers will be included as a presentation in the
conference program.
Submissions to the scientific tracks as full papers must not
exceed 12 pages in length (including title, abstract, appendices,
and author details and acknowledgements for revised contributions;
excluding references) and must be preceded by an abstract of no
more than 150 words and three to five keywords. Papers that do not
meet these requirements will be desk-rejected.
Research-in-Progress Paper papers present innovative ideas or
partial results of a research project. Although not yet fully
implemented or investigated, they should make a contribution to
the current state of research. Accepted short papers will be
presented as posters.
Submissions to the scientific tracks as research-in-progress
papers must not exceed 5 pages in length (including title,
abstract, appendices, and author details and acknowledgements for
revised papers; excluding references) and must be preceded by an
abstract of no more than 150 words and three to five keywords.
Submissions that do not meet these requirements will be rejected.
Papers should be submitted in the following formats:
* Initial submission (version for review): pdf-document
* Final submission (print-ready version): doc-document and pdf
document
Initial submissions must conform exactly to the templates defined
in the MS Word format. The templates for the final Camera-Ready
submissions (Full Paper and Research in Progress paper) must
exactly match the templates defined in the MS Word format. This
also applies to Revise and Resubmit. Submission of a single paper
can only be made for one track and is only possible online via the
review system:
https://www.conftool.pro/wi22/
The timeline for the review process of scientific papers is as
follows:
* Last opportunity for submission (Submission Deadline):
01.09.2021 - 2:00pm
* Fast and constructive AE Feedback: 10.09.2021
* Submission of reviews by Reviewers: 10.10.2021
* Submission of reviews by AE: 20.10.2021
* Decision of track chairs: 27.10.2021
* Notification to authors: 31.10.2021
* Submission of revised papers: 15.11.2021
* Final decision and information to authors: 21.11.2021
Submissions for the scientific tracks will be reviewed with
respect to the following criteria:
* Overall assessment
* Originality
* Technical quality
* Presentation and readability
* Suitability to stimulate discussion
* Contribution to the research field
Student Track
As in previous years, WI22 includes a forum for the presentation
of student research papers. Analogous to the contributions for
research tracks, students at Master's level submit their work and,
in case of a positive evaluation, are given the opportunity to
present their first scientific results at a conference.
Other forms of submission
We will publish calls for the submission of further forms of
contributions at a later point in time.
* Prototypes
* Panels
* Business Analytics Talks
Workshops and Tutorials
Workshops offer an open forum for short presentations, discussions
or collaborative work on a specific topic. The organization of the
contributions for a workshop from the invitation to the selection
is up to the organizers of a workshop. Tutorials focus on
imparting specific skills. We will publish a separate call for
workshops and tutorials.
Doctoral Consortium
The Doctoral Consortium (DC) is a forum for doctoral students in
business informatics or a (neighboring) discipline with business
informatics as a focus. The DC is a platform for intensive
discussion of the work with professors in our discipline. We will
shortly inform you about the application process for participation
in the DC.
We are looking forward to meet you in Nürnberg 2022.
