ABOUT THE WORKSHOP
From the early start of the IS discipline,
practices, organization, and management of IS Development, have
been central research areas. New techniques and methods are
becoming popular to develop systems as quickly and efficiently
as possible, especially with business development goals in mind.
However, in practice, projects continue to fail at a high rate,
measured by delays, time and budget overruns, and the inability to
meet expected functionality and quality.
Low code development platforms (LCDPs) may be a solution to
overcome these aforementioned issues as they allow the quick
development and deployment of applications. By offering easy to
handle development processes that typically require no code, LCDPs
are enabling the democratization of IT development. When it comes
to developing novel software artifacts, so-called citizen
developers are no longer reliant on the coding skills of IT
developers. Further, LCDPs are not completely code free and also
enable more sophisticated development projects. This enables
individuals with a non-IT background to re- and upskill towards IT
development, and also enables the sustainable co-creation of
digital environments in tandems between software developers and
business owners.
This workshop provides a forum for discussing research related to
LCDPs, based on a phenomenon-driven approach. We seek papers and
contributions such as position viewpoints that focus on
organizational, group, and individual levels analysis of LCDPs. We
invite regular submissions (completed and research in progress
papers) based on conceptual or empirical studies using qualitative
or quantitative methods researching future-of-work, governance,
and IS development (not exhaustive). In addition, we invite
position viewpoints on the topic of LCDPs.
Topics of interest include, but are not limited to:
* Low-code/no-code approaches to IS design and development
* Agile, lean, and DevOps approaches to Low Code development and
project management
* Technical and organizational challenges of designing Low-Code
Environments, including the role of and interaction between
developers and business experts
* Role of Platforms, Orchestrators and APIs in IT Development with
Low-Code Environments
* AI as the next layer of No-/Low-Code, e.g., ChatGPT or GitHub
Co-Pilot
* Regulation and compliance issues in low code development
* Socio-technical aspects of design and project management in Low
Code development * Education, including the role of digital
platforms and traditional institutions in providing Low Code
related education
* Project management challenges in Low code development, including
estimation, risk, quality assurance, governance, knowledge, team
dynamics, and managing organizational change
* Role of stakeholders in low code development
