The 2007 International Conference on Computational Science and Its Applications
- ICCSA 2007 -
26 August 2007 - 30 August 2007
Conference Chairs ==============
Marina L. Gavrilova, University of Calgary, Canada Osvaldo Gervasi, University of Perugia, Italy
Introduction ==========
The 2007 International Conference on Computational Science and Its Applications (ICCSA 2007) will be held at Sunway Lagoon Resort Hotel in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, a top-level resort in one of the most dynamic and exciting locations, from 26 August 2007 until 30 August 2007.
ICCSA 2007 is the next event in the series of highly successful International Conferences on Computational Science and Its Applications, previously held in Glasgow, UK (2006), Singapore (2005), Assisi, Italy (2004), Montreal, Canada (2003), Amsterdam, The Netherlands (2002) and in San Francisco, USA (2001).
Computational Science is a main pillar of most of the present research, industrial and commercial activities and plays a unique role in exploiting ICT innovative technologies. The ICCSA Conference offers a real opportunity to discuss new issues, to tackle complex problems and find advanced solutions able to shape new trends in Computational Science.
For this reason we cordially invite you to submit a:
full paper of 10 to 14 pages - Accepted contributions will be published in the Springer-Verlag Lecture Notes in Computer Science (LNCS) volumes. short paper of 6 to 9 pages - Accepted contributions will be published in the IEEE Computer Society proceedings. proposal to organize a technical session, a Workshop or a Tutorial
in one of the major Conference Themes listed below.

Paper Submission =============
Full PapersThe submitted full paper must be camera-ready, between 10 and 14 pages long and formatted according to the LNCS rules. Please consult the URL http://www.springer.de/comp/lncs/authors.html for formatting information and templates.
Short Papers ---------- The submitted short paper must be camera-ready, between 6 and 9 pages long and formatted according to the rules of IEEE Computer Society. Please consult the URL http://www.computer.org for formatting information and templates.
Full Papers --------- To submit a full or a short paper, please refer to instructions available on the ICCSA 2007 web site. Only papers submitted through the electronic submission and strictly adhering to the relevant format will be considered for reviewing and publication.
The paper must present an original and unpublished work, not submitted for publication elsewhere (copyright problems fall entirely under responsibility of the authors). Each paper will be reviewed by at least three experts in the relevant field (acceptance rate was 28% in 2005 and 26% in 2006) ensuring the acceptance only to top quality contributions.
When a paper is accepted at least one of the authors has to register to the conference and deliver the related talk. Failure to do so shall lead to rejection of the application to attend next year conference and the exclusion of the paper for the current year proceedings.
Workshop and Technical Session organization ====================================
Proposals for Workshop or Technical Session organization must be sent to the e-mail address:
sess-prop <at> iccsa.org and should include the following information:
- title
- name, affiliation, mailing address and e-mail address of the proposer(s) - previous experience of the proposer in organizing the proposed activity
- name, affiliation, and e-mail addresses of at least three colleagues of the proposer(s) who can comment on his (their) ability to organize the proposed activity
- description of the topic of the proposed activity (not exceeding 100 words) - detailed list (name, role and organization) of the Program Committee members and of the additional reviewers (if external to the program committee)
- a short description on how the proposed activity will be advertised
Technical sessions are collections of 5 oral contributions having a homogeneous subject. Workshops are a collection of technical sessions having strictly related subject. Workshops have a length not shorter than two technical sessions and no longer than 11 technical sessions.
The workshop and technical session Chairs (Session Chairs) are responsible for all the organizational aspects including soliciting, reviewing and selection of Session papers. Session chairs are also fully responsible for ensuring that only high quality papers are selected and for deciding their type (short, full or both). They are also requested to notify the Conference Chairs the name of the reviewers (for insertion in the electronic review system) and for choosing the actual reviewers (at least three) of each paper.
Session Chairs (or their Deputies) set also the order of presentation of oral contributions and chair related sessions.
The information provided to the Conference Chairs shall remain strictly confidential.
Due to their active role, Session chairs will benefit of a reduced conference registration fee (the reduction depending on the number and quality of attracted papers).
Important Dates =============
29 January 2007: Deadline for Workshop proposal submissions 30 January 2007: The electronic submission system opens for collecting the contributions 19 March 2007: Deadline for paper submission (full and short papers) 30 April 2007: Notification of acceptance 21 May 2007: Camera Ready Papers and Pre-registration deadline 26-30 August 2007: ICCSA 2007 Conference.
Proceedings =========
The proceedings of the Conference will be published both by Springer-Verlag and IEEE Computer Society. In particular:
The selected top quality Full Papers will appear in the Springer-Verlag Lecture Notes in Computer Science (LNCS) series. The selected top quality Short Papers will appear in the IEEE Computer Society Proceedings.
For a selected number of top quality papers, the authors will be requested to extend the paper in order to be published as special issues in appropriate international journals, such as Transactions on Computational Science,Springer, Journal of Supercomputing, International Journal of Mathematical Algorithms, etc.
