Call for Mini-Track Proposals (Deadline:
November 1, 2010)
AMCIS 2011 Human Computer Interaction (HCI)
Track, Sponsored by SIG-HCI
We formally invite information systems
scholars interested in HCI-related research to propose
minitracks for the upcoming AMCIS 2011 (August 4-8, 2011). See
AMCIS 2011 site at http://amcis2011.aisnet.org/. To formally
submit a minitrack, please use the following site:
http://mc.manuscriptcentral.com/amcis2011
The AMCIS 2011 HCI Track will provide a forum
for AIS members to present, discuss, and explore a wide range of
issues related to Human-Computer Interaction (HCI) with
Information Systems (IS). These issues include the history,
foundation disciplines, theories, practice, methodologies and
techniques, new developments, and applications concerning the
interaction between humans, information, information systems,
and technology. In an effort to bridge academia and industry,
papers may range from formal research studies to those based on
experiences, real-world observations, and expert opinion. The
Track is open to all types of quantitative and qualitative
research methodologies (including conceptualization,
theorization, case study, action research, experimentation,
field study, survey, and simulation). We also welcome visionary
articles, interactive demonstrations, and research in progress
papers.
The official call for AMCIS 2011 mini-tracks,
along with submission details, can be found at:
http://mc.manuscriptcentral.com/amcis2011. When you submit your
mini-track to Manuscript Central, be sure to specify that you
would like it placed under the HCI Track.
At the end of this call is a list of HCI
mini-tracks that were successfully conducted at AMCIS 2010 in
Peru, along with names and emails of the mini-track co-chairs.
Mini-tracks are not limited to those previously conducted—please
propose new, exciting, and innovative mini-tracks for the HCI
Track! (We suggest potential new areas at the end of this memo)
We would also like to repeat the successful mini-tracks that
were conducted last year. Thus, if your interests are in line
with these mini-tracks only, please contact the previous
mini-track co-chairs to express your interest in helping out.
There is often a need for multiple chairs on any mini-track, and
sometimes people do not have time to run the same mini-track
again.
Please let us know if you have any questions
or concerns. Thank you for helping to make next year's AMCIS HCI
Track a success!

Co-Chairs, AMCIS 2011 HCI Track
Examples of potential areas in HCI where new
mini-tracks would be useful:
• Interface designs on new
platforms such as mobile and ubiquitous technologies
• Aesthetic and affective
computing
• HCI-specific research
methodologies
• Usability engineering; metrics
and methods for user interface assessment and evaluation
• Behavioral, cognitive,
motivational, and affective aspects of human/technology
interaction
• HCI and the IT artifact
• Designs for multi-dimensional
information visualizations
• Design to improve IS security
and IT policy compliance
• Teaching HCI in an IS program
• HCI Issues in Healthcare IT
