Dear Colleagues:

We invite scholars and practitioners to submit proposals for workshops and tutorials for AMCIS 2014. The theme of AMCIS 2014 is “SMART SUSTAINABILITY: the Information Systems Opportunity.”  We invite proposals that reflect this theme or any other topics that would be of interest to IS scholars and practitioners.

The workshops and tutorials typically take place on Thursday, August 7, 2014 from 8:30 a.m. to 4.45 pm. as half-day or full-day sessions. If you are interested in offering a workshop or Tutorial on more than one day please consult with the co-chairs of workshops and tutorials.

Important Dates:

  • Deadline for proposal submissions:  Saturday March 1, 2014 at 11:59 p.m. EST
  • Notification of acceptance/rejection/conditional acceptance:  Friday April 4, 2014

Note: In Manuscript Central, go to author center, click on create new manuscript and select "Workshop and Tutorials" for submission Type and complete the steps required. Upload the completed proposal template in File Upload.

Descriptions of Workshops:

We welcome workshopsoffered by both scholars and practitioners that facilitate discussions and explorations of: (i) AMCIS 2014 Theme - SMART SUSTAINABILITY: the Information Systems Opportunity, (ii) ideas, techniques and methodologies to advance research or teaching in MIS, or (iii) IS-related concepts and/or products from industry and their application to academia or educational curricula.

Descriptions of Tutorials:

We welcome tutorials offered by both scholars and practitioners that offer training in, or a comprehensive understanding of, an emerging field or a state-of-the-art topic in MIS.

  • Developing MIS Papers for Practitioner Audiences
  • Active Learning in the Classroom
  • MOOCs
  • Using Tablets to Enhance Classroom Teaching and Learning
  • Bringing Real-World Issues into MIS Classrooms: A Multi-media Case Study Approach
  • Designing and Teaching Information Security in the MIS curriculum
  • The Gamification of Work, Commerce and Education
  • Design of Digital Future: The Zachman Framework and Perspective
  • Using Open Source Technologies to Design Web 2.0 Applications  
  • ASP.NET and Web Services
