For decades Prof. Philip Ein-Dor has been a driving force in the Israeli and international information systems communities. He was a founding member of the Association for Information Systems, served as the eighth president of the global organization, and likewise one of the founders of the Israel Association for Information Systems, serving as its chair for over a decade. Philip was co-founder of both Communications of AIS (CAIS) and the Journal of AIS (JAIS) and served as founding editor of JAIS and on the editorial or advisory boards of many other journals. He has inspired and guided numerous graduate students and researchers in the field of information systems. Through this award, ILAIS will encourage and support the participation of graduate students seeking to present their work at the annual European Conference on Information Systems (ECIS). We will expand the prize program to cover other conference if future budgets allow. To be eligible for the inaugural award, the applicant must: 1) be a member of ILAIS at the time the award is made; 2) be a registered graduate student at a CHE(MaLaG) recognized institute for higher education in Israel, at the time of conference submission; 3) be first author on the article/poster submitted; 4) have their article/poster accepted by ECIS2020. Goals: The book, Information Technology in Organisations and Societies: Multidisciplinary Perspectives from AI to Technostress, aims at providing an impressive list of multidisciplinary and cutting-edge research on both the positive and negative aspects of IT use vis-?-vis individuals, organisations, and societies. Prominent examples include the Smart Grid, Smart Manufacturing, Intelligent Transport Systems and Smart Cities. The 'smartness' of these systems is the result of the integration of ICT into 'traditional' technologies, thus providing them with advanced control and communication functions previously available only in the virtual world. With smart systems, billions of sensors (the 'Internet of Things', IoT) will collect data and transmit it for analysis. This process may lead to conclusions, recommendations and, eventually, action, possibly without any human intervention. In any case, the outcomes will have major socio-economic, ecological and potentially ethical ramifications and will directly impact citizens, businesses and society as a whole. They may also have considerable legal ramifications. This session solicits contributions that may help explain and explore the role of standards and standardisation for the ongoing digitisation of society and how STS could help improve standards setting and to make standards more beneficial for society. More specifically, the aim is to exploit a heterogeneous and distributed computational and storage environment to optimize the execution of modern applications requiring high computational resources while reducing the delay and defining constraints on where and how data can be moved and stored. In fact, big volumes of data are produced every day at the edge of the network and their analysis requires to either move the computation to the data or to move the data to the computation. For this reason, a co-design between data and computation management is required. An example could be to define the amount of data to be moved with respect to the complexity of required data analysis. In some cases, this data movement is not possible or limited due to privacy restrictions, which do not allow data collected at the edge to be stored on cloud facilities maintained by third-party actors. In other cases, the volume of data moved through the network introduces severe delays in the processing and techniques to reduce the volume by pre-processing and filtering them directly where the data are generated should be enacted to reduce this delay. At the same time, any transformation of the data might affect their utility for the final customer, thus, also the quality of the data should be taken into account. Moreover, the data collected by IoT and sensors at the edge is often subject to quality issues that might be detected and solved before using them for analytics and decision making. TOPICS This special issue aims to gather recent work on the topic of data and computation management in fog computing.
