I'm pleased to announce the THIRD INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE of the AUSTRALIAN INSTITUTE OF COMPUTER ETHICS (AiCE) 2002 will be held on 3rd -4th October, 2002 at the Lidcombe Catholic Workmen Club, Sydney, Australia. The Conference will be hosted by the Australian Catholic University, Sydney, Australia.
CALL FOR PAPERS The overall theme of AiCE2002 will be computing and its role within workplace and society in the 21st Century. Papers and case studies are invited from relevant disciplines such as business, government, computer science, information systems, law, social sciences and philosophy.
Example areas of interest for papers
Privacy and monitoring - Issues relating to information held on individuals especially in the post September 11th world.
Security and computer misuse - Issues of misuse and the impact of misuse of IT. Hacking, viruses, 'virus warnings' and other unwanted email, computer fraud.
Encouraging and enforcing professional standards -Applicable and usefulness of professional standards.
Developing information systems now and in the future - How to ensure social value issues are properly addressed.
Electronic commerce - The relationship between computer ethics and E-commerce in a global marketplace.
Organizations and Computer Ethics - the role of ethics upon modern businesses and their practices.
IT in developing countries - how can computer ethics be introduced to developing countries.
Nanotechnology - the ethical development of newer technologies.
Submissions on other relevant topics are also welcome.
Papers can be submitted in two ways:
Full Research Papers. All submissions will be in English and will be limited to 3,500 words. Each paper will be blind refereed by two reviewers. Papers should be in Word format.
Discussion Papers. All submissions will be in English and will be limited to an abstract of 500-1000 words. The abstracts will be reviewed for relevance. Abstract should be in Word format.
