Forwarded message from [unlandR@informatik.uni-essen.de (Rainer Unland)] sent originally on Mon, 08 May 2000 00:53:05 +0200: : Call for Papers : : Agents and CSCW: A Fruitful Marriage? : : Workshop on Deutsche Computer Supported Cooperative Work : 2000 : (D-CSCW 2000) : http://www.telekooperation.de/dcscw2000/ : : Scope and Aims of the Workshop : : In recent years, Computer Supported Cooperative Work (CSCW) : has drawn great attention from both research communities and : commercial sectors. More and more CSCW products have emerged : widely in software markets. Furthermore, the increasing use : of networking and the globalisation of dispersed : organisations have posed new challenges for the development : methodologies of CSCW systems. : In parallel with the advances made in CSCW in recent years : there have been interesting developments in the field of : Distributed Artificial Intelligence, notably in the : concepts, theories and deployment of intelligent agents as a : means of distributing computer-based problem solving : expertise. The application of agents to provide engineering : design support is an active area of research. Furthermore, : the ideas inherent in such an approach are also applicable : to other domains, for example, support for interactive : learning. However, many organisations, that seek to exploit : the advantages offered through CSCW, could derive benefit : from the integration of agents in the management and use of : their corporate knowledge. : : Topics of interest include but are not limited to: : + multi-agent macroscopic modelling of group work : + multi-agent cooperation and coordination in social : group work : + multi-agent mechanisms for task decomposition, : dispatch and synthesis in group work : + multi-agent architectures and CSCW : + multi-agent engineering design support : + mobility of agents in CSCW : + support of distributed working by agents : + how will agents influence the work environment : + which roles can agents play in virtual work environments : : Deadlines: : June 19: Submission of Papers : July 9: Notification of Acceptance : August 13: Submission of Camera Ready Copy : August 20: Distribution of pre-prints to participants : Sept. 11-13: D-CSCW (workshop will be held on Tuesday) : : Publication: : All accepted papers will be published in the workshop : proceedings. In addition, it is anticipated that authors of : selected papers may be invited to extend their paper, to be : considered for subsequent publication in a special issue of : an international journal. : : Attendance Numbers: : The workshop will be limited to a maximum of 25 : participants. : : Criteria for Attendance: : Persons wishing to actively attend the workshop should : submit a short (three to six pages) or an extended paper : (ten to fourteen pages) to the organisers at the address : below. Up to fifteen further participants (who are not : willing to give a presentation) may be accepted for : participation on a first come first serve basis. : : Contact Addresses: : : Cherif Branki : Department of Computing and Information Systems : University of Paisley : Paisley, PA1 2BE, Scotland, U.K. : Tel: + 44 (0) 141 848 3311 / 3310 : Fax: + 44 (0) 141 848 3542 : Email: bran-ci0@paisley.ac.uk : : Julian Newman : Department of Computing : Glasgow Caledonian University : Glasgow G4 0BA, Scotland, U.K. : Tel: + 44 (0) 141 331 3280 : Fax: + 44 (0) 141 331 3277 : Email: j.newman@gcal.ac.uk or jcn@holyrood.ed.ac.uk : : Rainer Unland : Department of Mathematics and Computer Science : University of Essen : Schützenbahn 70 : 45127 Essen, Germany : Tel: + 49 (0) 201 183-3421 : Fax: + 49 (0) 201 183-2419 : Email: unlandr@informatik.uni-essen.de : : : Workshop Committee: : Cherif Branki, University of Paisley (U.K.) : Brian Lees, University of Paisley (U.K.) : Julian Newman, Glasgow Caledonian University (U.K.) : Rainer Unland, University of Essen (Germany) : Ryszard Kowalczyk, CSIRO, Melbourne (Australia) : Mathias Petsch, TU Ilmenau (Germany) : Hua Tian, University of Essen (Germany) : Stefan Uellner, T-Nova (Germany) : : -- : : ******************************************************************************** : Prof. Dr. Rainer Unland : University of Essen : Mathematics and Computer Science : Practical Computer Science, especially Data : Management Systems and Knowledge Representation : Schützenbahn 70 : D-45117 Essen : Tel.: (+49) 201-183 3421 : Fax: (+49) 201-183 2419 : email: UnlandR@informatik.uni-essen.de : www: http://www.informatik.uni-essen.de/Fachgebiete/DatWiss/ : ******************************************************************************** : : -- : Mailing-Liste: GI-FB5-L@aifb.uni-karlsruhe.de : Administrator: GI-FB5-L-admin@aifb.uni-karlsruhe.de : Konfiguration: http://www.aifb.uni-karlsruhe.de/mailman/listinfo/gi-fb5-l
