SmaCiT 2018 aims at attracting a significant international attention with regard to smart city emerging topics. More specifically, the aim of this special track is to trace how smart city evolves, mainly -but not limited- with regard to smart government. This year track’s objective addresses the roles of data and the city government policies for achieving people-centricity.
In the era of cities, municipal leaders are making an important shift regarding thinking of people as customers. This shift is based on a private sector’s perspective; this is not a simple task since it demands a continuous service monitoring, assessment and improvement, which normally is based on accurate data analysis and appears as a thinking that makes government more personal and responsive. SmaCiT collected papers will investigate the role of data in making this shift feasible.
**
*Prospective authors*are invited to submit original papers on topics including, but not limited to:
* Theoretical foundations on Smart City and Smart Government; * City government’s data streams; * Case studies and practices of smart city data for government use; * Creative partnerships and creative industries in Smart City (Data Economics); * Data for Smart City emerging topics (i.e., energy, water, waste, transportation, etc.) * The role of government data for smart city applications development (i.e., promotion push, start-ups, open data); * Big, open and Linked data models; * Practices in smart city data mining; * Avoid hijacks: Ensuring security and privacy in Smart City data streams; * Political implications of citizen-government interaction; * Citizen participation practices in smart cities.
